    Well it seems that Stage6 (Divx video hosting website) will be closing down on Feb 28th.  As a member this makes me sad as it’s a terrific site and it will definitely leave a huge gap which will be difficult to fill.  :(  They made the announcement today and so far there are over 6000 comments on the blog, so maybe someone will be able to fly in and save it at the 11th hour.

    I will keep my fingers crossed for some good news.

    • Oscars 2008 and SKY

    Well as per usual this is shown in the middle of the night for us people in the UK, and I wouldn’t mind staying up for it, but unfortunately it is only shown live on SKY Movies - a premium subscription channel. I do have a SKY satellite subscription (not for long) but they don’t even bother to put it on their SKY one channel which more people have access to; they put it on the channel that is supposed to show movies, because you have to pay about £40 a month to subscribe to it!

    Now they are showing the highlights on the SKY One channel but how can be bothered after it’s all over and in the papers!

    I’m glad Daniel Day-Lewis got one for There will be Blood, great performance and long overdue I think. I would have liked to see Philip SeymourHoffman get one for best supporting actor as I really like him, think he’s a good actor, and he did a brilliant job in Charlie Wilson’s War. The other thing that made me happy was the Coen Brothers cleaning up for No Country for Old Men. If I had to name favourite directors, it would be them at the top of the list. They’ve made some excellent films and some of my favourites, so again, about time.

    And Helen Mirren looked fantastic as usual on the red carpet. The woman is a goddess.

    Anyway, I am happy to report that I have in fact cancelled my SKY satellite subscription a few weeks ago, and my service will stop at the beginning of March. Load of old rubbish on there anyway, and there are more and more free channels now that used to only be available on SKY. Plus, there is so much available online now anyway. So goodbye SKY.

    • Lilith Saintcrow - Working for the Devil

    Very exciting!  Author Lilith Saintcrow arrived today to join in the book discussion of her book ‘Working for the Devil’.  The book group started last Friday and will go for approx 3-4 weeks so there’s still plenty of time for anyone to join in, or just pop in and say hi to Lilith.

    And she’s a cat person, with a house full of cats.  Gotta love it!  I only have three but I would have more if I had a bigger house, and preferably out in the country with no neighbours… hmmm a bit like my last house…
