Finally added the Crafty Book Addicts community on LJ.  You may not be aware of how much I like to plan things, but I really like to plan things.  So instead of planning, I decided just to create it now (instead of sleeping) and worry about the fine print later.  that’s what happens when I don’t go to bed at a decent time!  So if you are a Book Addict (ie person who loves books) and a crafty one at that, then please go join up.  You must also be a member of the Book Addicts Book Group since we are a community for Book Addicts (and there would be no point if you weren’t now would there) and you must be crafty.  See the community for more info.

Zazzle has *finally* sorted out their email notification system and I got 267 emails from them today :p  Oh joy!  Every email I should have had since it “broke” arrived in my inbox this morning, and they just keep coming, so quite possibly it’s still not working quite right, as I know for a fact I have not had 32 new orders today lol but they keep insisting I’ve “just made a sale” *head spins*  Anyway, nice to see some emails instead of nothing.  Now I don’t have to keep checking manually to see if anyone has bought anything, or commented or “joined my fan club”.

Christmas mail delays are irritating me no end.  I am waiting for presents I ordered online to arrive in time for me to post them elsewhere, and I am (and this is a BIG worry) waiting for craft supplies to arrive in time for me to make other presents *chews lip*

Speaking of Christmas, I currently have negative money, and I found out today that I might also not have any heating for Christmas.  It is beginning to sound a bit like a Dickens novel, but I rang the oil company today and due the the “Christmas rush” they might not be able to get to me by Christmas!  Who’d have thought there would be a Christmas oil rush, it’s not exactly like a gold rush I suppose *strokes chin*  Anyway, should there be no heating, then I may be offline due to it being too damn cold to type, or sew or knit or read books.  I will be hibernating or perhaps moving me and the kitties in with the rele’s.

I opened a Twitter account yesterday and started twittering like a mad fool lol Well not really but the fact that I have to write Twitter and Tweet makes me feel like TWIT!  I’ve linked it up to my main blog (on EOTC) so I can “Tweet”  from the blog to twitter or from twitter to the blog, or if I really feel the need, I can even “Tweet” from my mobile – but only if I feel the urge to share that I’m sitting on a bus or buying groceries or whatever similar exciting thing I might be doing when I’m out.

I did watch Zack and Miri Make A Porno last night (that’s a movie btw and not me spying on the neighbours lol).  It’s pretty funny and I like the guy that’s in it, he might be called something like Seth Rogen or something.  I can’t be bothered looking it up but he was in Pineapple Express and some other stuff, and he’s pretty funny too.  It was made by Kevin Smith’s company and Jay from Jay and Silent Bob is also in it as it Justin Long, whom I love!  There’s plenty of language in it and quite a lot of it crude but still funny and it’s kindly sweet in its way too.

What Kind of Chocolate

You are Milk Chocolate

A total dreamer, you spend most of your time with your head in the clouds.

You often think of the future, and you are always working toward your ideal life.

Also nostalgic, you rarely forget a meaningful moment… even those from long ago.

What Kind of Chocolate Are You?

Yeah I guess that could be true.

Spam Spam Spam Spam

Aww seems like the idiot spammers have been active again. Really makes you wonder why they bother since they don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting their comments approved so no one will ever see them or be abe to link to them EVER.

Happy Blog Day 2007

Long time no blogging. I know, I know, where have I been and what exciting things have I been doing? Well the answer is sadly not that exciting lol. I have been on vacation but just at home, well mostly, and then I had a little accident in the home and ended up with concussion for the last week.

I got some catching up to do once I can stand to look at a computer screen for more than 5 minutes but I was feeling guilty since I found out it was Blog Day today, so I felt I should at least manage something.

Happy Blog Day bloggers!

Here’s what to do:

BlogDay posting instructions:

  1. Find 5 new Blogs that you find interesting
  2. Notify the 5 bloggers that you are recommending them as part of BlogDay 2007
  3. Write a short description of the Blogs and place a link to the recommended Blogs
  4. Post the BlogDay Post (on August 31st) and
  5. Add the BlogDay tag using this link:
http://technorati.com/tag/BlogDay2007 and a link to the BlogDay web site at http://www.blogday.org

Vox

Another one of those things I keep meaning to do was look at Vox (who also own LJ) and check out their blog offerings. I had read about them in NET Magazine I think or another one of several magazines that I pick up occasionally.

Anyway, I signed up lol. Its very nice. It links to Amazon and a few other places and so I decided to use my account as a Blog for the Book Group and see how it goes.

You can find the link in the blogroll on the right.

This time last year

It was on this date last year that I joined the sotd forum.  It seems like a really long time ago sometimes, and such a lot has happened since then.

It was the 3rd message board that I joined and the first ‘private’ board.  Although I work in electronic publishing and have been around computers for ages, I remember still being a bit confused when it came to message boards. Only because it was unfamiliar to me and because I usually just used computers for work, and not for anything interesting.  I also had dial-up and had a limit per month of 150 hours of online time.  March 2005 was the first month that I exceeded my 150 hour allowance lol. Then I had to pay by the minute until the next renewal date.  Then followed a few more months of that – and some fairly hefty phone bills – until I was finally able to get broadband installed.  Due to where I live it had not been available previously.  In July I got unlimited broadband, unlimited downloads and a 2mb connection speed (previously I had a 28.8kb connection speed)

It was interesting but I wasnt really interested in ‘downloading’ anything.  Haha how things have changed. Now I download EVERYTHING.

Anyway, I guess that shows how much time I was spending on message boards.  I met some really nice people and some not so nice people.  I still ’see’ a lot of these same people as they come to my board, but some of them I dont see so much anymore or at all, since they dont come to my board and I dont have any time just now to go anywhere else.  I miss those people.  Some of my closest friends are now people I met on the internet and I love them dearly.

I also discovered banners and wanted to know how to make them.  I started off in Windows paint program but quickly moved on to PSP and now photoshop!  I have developed a font fetish and I love PS brushes.  Last year I couldn’t have told you what a PS Brush was and fonts, well they were just the standard ones you found in word (like I said, computers were for work only and a bit of email)

Anyway, I had my first message board by the end of May. Just a little free one which operated as a banner shop!  But I’d got the bug and was interested in doing more. I did a lot of research on message boards and what was on offer, and I ended up with the current one and a hosting company!  …some months later, I now have a new host, a small portal and soon to be totally new site.  I have just installed a CMS and am currently tweaking it.  I planned to do this last year but I just didnt know how to do it.

I find it interesting to see how much I’ve learned in the last year and it has opened up a whole new world of things that take up all my free time haha. But I do find it interesting and it is fun – when it works. This time last year, I couldnt do any of the things I can do now. I had the ideas but didn’t have the know-how.

So there you are, never too late or too old to try something new.  I just need to step away from the computer sometimes and go do something else in the real world.  Real art instead of digital, go to the movies, read a book, visit my RL friends… but somehow I don’t seem to have much free time… I have no idea why lol
