Hello Spring!

Time to make some Spring cards and I should explain that these are in response to Easter cards that I have received from family.  I don’t actually celebrate “Easter” so I have never sent Easter cards – in fact years ago when I lived overseas, I remember a time when there was no such thing as Easter cards until I suddenly started receiving them from the UK  – after that they were everywhere but it has never been something I got into.  Anyway, because of my commitment to make more cards this year and to keep in better touch with friends near and far, it got me thinking about how to keep in regular contact, and one way is to send more cards for more occasions.  Birthday, Halloween and Christmas are obvious, but what about the rest of the year? Other seasonal cards?  The decision to make Spring cards would take care of one season, I still have to think about what to do for Summer – I could always just send “Happy Summer” cards lol and I can think of so many ideas for Autumn/Fall cards, so I might make those as well as Halloween cards.  But meantime, let’s focus on Spring!

Hello my lovely Distress Oxides, oh how I love thee.  It’s the colour, the chalkiness, the water reactiveness, the blendability.  I just can’t get enough of them.  So here are a few of my favourites before and after water application.distress oxide backgrounds distress oxide backgrounds distress oxide backgrounds distress oxide backgrounds distress oxide backgrounds

I recently bought quite a few stamps from Lavinia Stamps.   I confess to going a bit bananas – they were all just so pretty – and I did narrow down my order as much as I could bear but I still ended up with quite a lot of lovely stamps including these bunnies, well hares actually, these dragonflies and butterflies, these dandelion-looking things, these curly wurly things and this cute cat.

I wanted to create a little scene with the hares in the middle of some kind of secret fairy grotto, and what says Spring more than a leaping hare?

This one may not especially say “Spring” but it’s for my mother so the cat and the colours are perfect!

I stamped the surrounding foliage etc as shadow stamping then I added Nuvo Drops and Wink of Stella to both cards, and if you look closely the hares and the cat have black Nuvo Drop eyes too that make them very shiny.

I edged the cards with black Memento marker before attaching them to the kraft card bases.

I also used Versafine Clair inks to stamp the envelopes and make them pretty.
