So it’s MerMay soon and in order to get in the mood, I decided to do some mermaid sketching practice to try and get my hand working!

I pulled out my little sketchbook and started sketching in this blue pencil, which is from my Jane Davenport set.

I started outlining some of the features in a Sakura micron pen and honestly I wish I hadn’t done it because I liked it in just the blue pencil but hey ho.

Not to be deterred I continued to add hair in black pen also, still not very happy about it

Anyhoo, I used some of the Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers – I love this Beach colour – unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any refills available for these pens.  I wish I’d known that before purchasing as it did say something about refilling but what they meant was that once they are empty, they can be filled with something else :/  Ahem, moving on, at this point I really am liking how she looks, though she is looking more ice queen than queen of the sea!  lol

So I continued to colour her in with more Mermaid Markers – eyes, lips and hair – and she is now looking like she might be more at home under the sea, though I do like the ice queen look with the white lips, eyes and hair too, so that’s something to think about.

Here’s what was used FYI
