I am having a crafty long weekend, as per this post and this post, and this post, and this post, It’s been a really good couple of days so far and I’ve been really enjoying crafting without an agenda.
You might remember these Turnabout backgrounds I did back in April but didn’t use at the time, when I was using the #EverydayBouquet turnabout kit to make thank you cards. I didn’t use them then because I didn’t want to cover them up with a big label diecut, so I put them in my stash for later.
I had this idea to use my C9 Stuck on You cactus die to make a fringed cactus using the C9 Fringe Frenzy kit as shown on their Instagram post. They used their lightweight paper pack to cut the fringe but I wanted to use tissue paper and have multiple layers.
I cut multiples in lime green tissue and glued them on to the white card so that they were overlapping.
Then after the glue was dry I ran it through my Big Shot using the Stuck on You cactus die and roughed up the tissue with a craft pick – it’s so cute!
I tried the cactus on top of both backgrounds to see which colour combo I liked better, and decided to use the one on the right.
I stamped “I’ll never desert you” sentiment from the same stamp set, and then matched up some Gina K cardstock to make the card.
As I said above, I really didn’t want to hide this background too much, I wanted to be able to see it, so I made a taller card so that I could place the cactus off the edge of the stamped piece rather than on top of it. I glued everything down and left it to dry.
And here is the finished card with my frilly fringed cactus which I am really loving and will definitely do again.
