Hi Crafty Friends!
I have been working on my Wellspring 2020 projects playing catch up due to a late start by me. The course I am referring to is of course, Wellspring 2020 by Artful Academy (formerly Mixed Up Creative Academy). Here’s what they say about the course:
Wellspring is an inspirational, motivational school all about using art for mental wellness and self-care. It runs in our dedicated online classroom from May 1st to August 18th 2020. Through 30 energising and insightful lessons we will explore how and why art can be a powerful tool for mental wellbeing and self-care, and make lots of beautiful projects along the way. Join us for 18 weeks of uplifting, empowering, thought-provoking, life-affirming art lessons themed around mental wellbeing!
Still playing catch up and doing whatever lesson seems most appealing at the time, the benefits of starting late I guess. However, for the last week or so, maybe longer, I find myself getting up early to do this:
My morning routine is currently, get up, go into the studio (AKA the spare room!) open the window to hear the birds, choose one of my affirmations at random, and then contemplate it while doing this exercise. This is a form, adaptation maybe, of Chinese brush painting, which I have done before when I was exploring calligraphy years ago, plus all things related to Chinese art. This time however, I used different supplies as my brush was not making me happy, so I switched to my favourite brush (the one I seem to use for everything atm) and I also changed ink. Although I have the ink stick type ink and also some Sumi ink, I wasn’t happy using either of them. I also switched papers for the same reason. Once all that was sorted out, I could enjoy my meditative brush painting for half an hour or so. Very soothing.
Now that I have quite a few pages, I will start using them in my art journals, so the exercise is dual purpose – meditative art practice and making art journal supplies 🙂
As always, thanks for reading!
PROJECT RECIPE:
Ink
Paper
From stash: brush
I started something new for April and continuing for May and June:
Since we are all stuck inside and can’t leave the house, I thought I would try and do two things:
1. use this time to finish any unfinished projects
2. use as much recycled materials as possible (I do this a lot anyway) but also not to buy new stuff!
So, with that in mind, I will note the above on any posts, if applicable.
UNFINISHED PROJECT – NO
RECYCLED MATERIALS – NO – plus nothing new used, no new purchases!
Thanks for visiting today. Your comment is really appreciated.
