Hi Friends!
This is the birthday card I made for a friend, and the colours are really inspired by the mood board you see below. It has a real earth tone vibe to me and so I wanted to use some of those earthy tones in my card.
Inspiration
Overview of my card process
I’m using Altenew Bold Alpha dies to spell out the HAPPY BIRTHDAY letters, and I stuck them down on some double-sided tape to hold them in place and make it easier to get the heat embossing done. I used a copper, a good and a turquoise that looks a lot like patina colour and I liked that combination together.
I am also thinking about using this background – it uses Distress Oxides to create a kind of ombre look to it too!
Here’s a close up of some of the heat embossed letters on the word DAY.
I used a T-ruler to line up my words on the background so that the stripes of the ombre embossing also lined up.
I added some gold splatters to the background before adhering the HAPPY BIRTHDAY letters to the background and popping it on a card base.
Thoughts
I really do love the whole process of heat embossing, it’s so magical and it never gets old lol. I also love the colours used in the card, very earthy and natural. It would make a great card for some of the menfolk in that the colours are good and it’s not too flowery or over embellished. Keep it simple!
I hope you enjoyed reading about this card and that you find inspiration from it.
