Hi Crafty Friends!
I have been working on my Wellspring 2020 projects playing catch up due to a late start by me. The course I am referring to is of course, Wellspring 2020 by Artful Academy (formerly Mixed Up Creative Academy). Here’s what they say about the course:
Wellspring is an inspirational, motivational school all about using art for mental wellness and self-care. It runs in our dedicated online classroom from May 1st to August 18th 2020. Through 30 energising and insightful lessons we will explore how and why art can be a powerful tool for mental wellbeing and self-care, and make lots of beautiful projects along the way. Join us for 18 weeks of uplifting, empowering, thought-provoking, life-affirming art lessons themed around mental wellbeing!
Still playing catch up as my summer has not exactly been stellar and my back is playing up and causing me much pain on top of everything else. However, I wanted to push to get this finished as I wanted to gift it to a friend for her birthday and it has taken me nearly two weeks to get it down when really it would normally take a day or two including drying time.
The lesson calls for a purchased chipboard project as a base but I am not spending any money at the moment so I made these little mindfulness aids out of grey board – fyi one A4 sheet gives you 44 tiles depending on the size you decide to use.
And since I had 44 tiles I decided to make two sets of 20 and allow for spares/mistakes. That way I could make one set for myself and gift the other to my friend. We would be tile buddies 🙂 I have umpteen tiny gift boxes in my house so it was a matter of finding the right size, a bit like Goldilocks.
Here’s a few close ups of the finished boxes with tiles inside. The boxes I ended up using fit exactly 20 tiles instead!
Hopefully I can get this posted in time for her birthday but I have one more thing still to make for her!
As always, thanks for reading!
PROJECT RECIPE:
greyboard
white gesso
gel medium
assorted textures
Paperartsy fresco paints
Decoart varnish
Finnabair mould, Metallique paints and waxes
Hot glue
gift boxes
From stash: everything!
I started something new for April and continuing over summer:
Since we are all stuck inside and can’t leave the house, I thought I would try and do two things:
1. use this time to finish any unfinished projects
2. use as much recycled materials as possible (I do this a lot anyway) but also not to buy new stuff!
So, with that in mind, I will note the above on any posts, if applicable.
UNFINISHED PROJECT – NO
RECYCLED MATERIALS – YES – all the stuff I used for textures, the gift boxes, plus nothing new used, no new purchases!
Thanks for visiting today. Your comment is really appreciated.
