Hello again everyone, today is another catch up post for the #100DayProject, as I have finished the rest of the 61-70 batch and thought I would share another one since a few people requested it. This is also Day 13 of the Blog Along with Effy and if you are interested in my Day 1-12 posts for the blog along, you can find a list of them all linked at the bottom of this post, so feel free to check them out too!

So back to the tiny book covers, you can find a detailed post for my Day 1 project where I went into the ins and outs of what I was doing, and here is a look at the first ten days and days 11-20 and days 21-30 ,days 31-40, days 41-50, and days 51-60.  Today’s cover is from the day 61-70 batch.  I’m a few days behind due to trying to squeeze more things into the same number of hours but I have my next batch selected and when I’m done moving some furniture around today, I will make a start on them.

At the start of the project, I made a rough list of the 100 books that I might want to feature, but that has changed over the weeks as I find other books on my shelves that I want to feature, and some have better covers than others too.  Then I try to work on a few at a time, in batches of usually 3-5, but because I was behind, I worked on ten this time. That took me a few hours, even though they are only tiny ATC sized pieces of paper, they can be a bit fiddly to get the detail done.  Last time I posted about them I featured the ATC for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory because I loved how it turned out and I also remembered to take some process photos of that one so there was enough to make a post out of it.

In that post I also showed the other ones I was working on at the same time.  We’ve been playing a “guess the book” game in our book group using the covers, someone got six out of ten which was pretty impressive!

After finishing Charlie, I started on the others in the photo above, beginning with the Karen Maitland book – Company of Liars.  If you haven’t read it btw, it’s a terrific book!

Watercolour background first, then pencil sketch then colour in with a black Pitt pen.

Set it aside to work on some of the others…

Once everything was dry, it was time to add the quote and the gold details. I have to say, it’s really fun adding all the little icons inside the wolf’s head, even though they are tiny and not very good, I like the overall effect it creates and it has given me an idea for something else I want to try.

And here it is next to the book itself. Again, if you haven’t read it, give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Challenges

The idea is simple: choose a creative project, do it every day for 100 days, and share your process online.
Every year, thousands of people all around the world commit to 100 days of creating.

The next round starts January 31st, 2021.

#The100dayproject – Day 61-70 WIP photos continued
So why ATCs and why these books?  Well in order to make it easier on myself and therefore make it more likely that I could do all 100 days, I thought ATCs would be perfect.  Then I thought of book quotes, handwriting them, perfect way to practice my lettering and also indulge my love of books.  So what books?  The first 25 books are all books with elements of magic in them (fantasy, supernatural, urban fantasy, vampires, witches, werewolves etc) and then I changed to modern fiction and will do 25 of those or more.  As with the first 25 books, all books must be taken from my shelves and be actual physical books, no ebooks, no audiobooks!
So tell me, what books have you read and what’s your favourite cover, if any? Let me know in the comments and as always, thanks for reading!

I’ve been terrible at following through with the 100 days project. I either start and don’t finish or I can’t decide on a project and so I don’t start.
These are fabulous! ATC’s intimidate me because they are so little.
