Hello everyone and Happy Monday!  Welcome back to another blog post, this time for Day 19 of the Blog Along with Effy (details below). Today’s post is an art journal post as I had some time to re-watch some Wanderlust lessons and actually make some pages over the weekend.  This is Nicole Warrington’s lesson from Week 14 and still in the silhouette theme.  I’ve been wanting to do this lesson since I watched it the first time but things kept getting in the way, so I finally got a chance yesterday and it was so much fun to make as it is a watercolour lesson (pretty much my favourite medium).  This is a class lesson so I am only sharing a few photos of some of the pretty paint colours because I love to watch watercolour move across the page, some quote decision making and then the completed page.  Here we go!

The journal I use for Wanderlust is the small one that I made from 12.5 x 9.5 inch cold pressed watercolour paper, so that is the size of the double page spread you see below.

Time to draw my tree!  I was getting some good practice in yesterday as I seemed to be drawing trees for everything (more trees coming up later in the week!)

To add some words to the page, I pulled out these pieces of book paper that I have been using for other projects.  I was too lazy to go find the rest of the book so I was hoping I might find some useful words in these pieces, and guess what – I did!  I found some for this page and some for a future page that I put away safely so they didn’t disappear or get eaten by a kitty!

Here’s the words I cut out from the pages.  The words were perfect considering what I was thinking about at the time and then, of course, the spirit tree subject of the page.

Here’s a look at the finished page.  I love my page!  I don’t always but I do love this one.  I mentioned in my previous post that after I finished Dyan’s lesson I was going to start on Kate Crane’s lesson and if I had time, move on to this one (working backwards lol) but not only did I start three pages for the KC lesson but I also managed to get this one started and finished on the same day. Feeling quite chuffed about ticking off all the lessons as complete after stalling for weeks.

Let me know what you think in the comments, and as always, thanks for reading!

I’ll do my best to keep up.  The idea is to blog every day (obvs) but also to comment on other people’s blogs to keep the conversation going.  There is a facebook group where you can link your posts and find other people’s to go visit and comment. During April you can find all the Blog Along posts linked on my home page for convenience. If you leave a comment, I’ll be sure to return the favour!

Art Journal Journey
Inspired By… April Challenge – This is my second page entered for this month’s challenge.  My first page is here.  This page is inspired by the Wanderlust lesson but also by the found poetry words I managed to cut out of the leftover book page scraps.  I try to recycle as much as possible, plus Earth Day is coming up soon so I’m trying extra hard to do more this month.

Ingredients

Your tree looks great. I love how it looks against the dark background. And watercolor moving across the page is always a fun thing to watch. It is fun to see what it does, isn’t it? Thanks so much for sharing this page with us at AJJ. Happy new week. Hugs-Erika

I have seen a few other trees from this same lesson, and by far and away, your tree is the most compelling and stunning. I love the sparkle and shine, as well as the found words you chose. Besides inspiring me, your art is perfect for Art Journal Journey and the Inspired by theme originally set by Eileen.

Oh wow I love this page, you did a great job! I have to say this and Kate Cranes lessons have been my favourite so far in wanderlust. I’ve yet to look at last week’s release.
I live your page the colours make me want to dive right in and hide amongst it’s layers.
