Hey friends we are halfway through the week already!  I do not know where time goes sometimes, really what happened to Monday and Tuesday?  So since it’s Wednesday I thought I would link up to WOYWW. It’s an exciting week for WOYWW as they are celebrating their 12 year anniversary and have an ATC swap planned. I have not been linking for very long so I am not joining in with the ATC posting part but I am linking my desk for this week and want to say Congrats! Twelve years of weekly posting is a lot and needs to be recognised and celebrated.  Our book group is coming up to its sixteenth anniversary so I can appreciate all the time and effort that it takes to keep it going as well as the good friends we have all become along the way.

So here’s what’s on my desk this week…

I ADORE that colour!  It’s one of my all time favourites and I really have to stop myself from using it in everything lol.

This is a different view of my desk from what is usually shown but it was the only angle I could get to fit both pieces in.  The small page is of course my art journal but the big piece is something else entirely.  I was really surprised that it would sit on my box easel but I was glad that it did as that made life a lot easier.  Also on the desk you can see a big jar of dirty paint water, and a lot of fluid acrylics and acrylic inks, a dirty palette and then all the usual stuff that seems to be permanently on the desk.  In the background is a lot of messy storage and things still on the floor being homeless since I switched rooms.  These things had a place in the old room but for some reason don’t seem to have a place in the new room.  There is also some of my Kaleidoscope paintings from last year, a dressmaker’s dummy and a big kettlebell which is absolutely not used for exercise but does make an excellent doorstop!

What is also on my office desk this week is a post-it with a reminder about some website upgrades that need doing.  It’s been there for over a week and I need to find time to sit down and do it but I feel exhausted just thinking about it as it’s a pretty big job.  Not particularly difficult but just time consuming.  At the same time, I was thinking of making some design changes to the blog, because websites are for tweaking lol, but I have been trying to limit my time sat at a screen for various reasons including headaches, so that also might not happen anytime soon.  Still the longer it drags on…

Both of the WIP art projects on my desk are actually finished now but you will have to wait until Friday to see them and to find out more about the larger piece if you are curious.  Hope to see you then, meantime if you want to see some photos of the Outer Hebrides check out this post and if you like cat art have a look at this post.

Oh yes, that’s very much a fabulous colour. Rich, and deep as the ocean… Don’t ever think that because you see yourself as a “newbie” that you can’t join in the swap. Especially if your ATCs have that colour on them… ;-D

Happy WOYWW 624 (bit late getting round!)

Hi Elle, happy 12th Anniversary. Sorry for the late visit. That colour (and purple) are my favourites! I think I have exactly the same box easel – unused! I casually mentioned to Mr M one day that a lot of the deskers were artists and I would maybe like to have a go, and a few days later a parcel arrived – box easel complete with paints, brushes, small canvasses and watercolour pad. I have since learned to keep my mouth shut about wanting to try new crafts – or I will never have room to craft! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #20

I love that colour too, Elle! One of my favourite summer tops is black and turquoise. Marvellous splashes of colour in your abstract pieces. It looks as if there are lots of interesting projects in your room. Great stuff.

Thank you for your visit last week, and for your good wishes for my appointment at the hospital – now rescheduled for Monday. So glad you like the kitty throw which is now completed and out in the open at last! Hop over and have a look. It’s a relief not to have to be secretive any longer. My hubby absolutely loves it and says all the kitties have different personalities, and the cat stitch ones look like a choir of kitties! The kitties like it too so there’s hot competition as to who gets to the chair first. I know 80 squares sounds daunting, but if you just take them one at a time and don’t think too far ahead, it’s amazing how quickly they mount up. They are fun to do if you keep them random, too. I really enjoyed making this whole project.

Happy belated WOYWW,

Wow, such a fab colour, so useable. There’s a lot of it on the canvas, I wonder where you’re going with it. Do you know yet ? When you visit ZsuZsa I’m sure it won’t take long to work out that she’s drawn to turquoise and gold, whenever I see them IRL it makes me think of her amazing artworks now. Will happily associate you with this inky swirly sea strong blue that can Jerome as light as a feather. I have a dodgy eye that soon tells me if I’ve had too much screen time, so I understand your reluctance to get deeply drawn in. Headaches caused by screen light and concentration are horrid. You know the rules, frequent breaks, fresh air and liquid. You may interpret these as you wish, but if we meet, know that my idea is to sit outside a pub with a gin!!

Hi Elle. Happy anniversary. So glad you felt ok about joining in on this special day. I haven’t been blogging since the group’s inception – but for around 8 of the 12 years! It’s true what everyone is saying – the friendships are lovely, great fun and last well!
I wonder hat your paintings are going to be? Must try to remember to pop back on Friday…. I peeked at your pictures of the Hebrides – a lace I have yet to go to – they are fabulous!
Take care. God bless.
