Hi everyone!  Today I am sharing another art journal page for the August challenge over on Art Journal Journey which this month is Type chosen by this month’s lovely host, Neet. I made a few pages for this challenge because I really love TYPE and will be sharing them during the month.

This page started off with this selection of bits and pieces which I collaged into my journal.  Above are some gel prints using two types of type, some fabric pieces, tissue paper, handmade paper, packaging, leftover paper scraps etc.

Question:  what do I not like about using fabric in any situation?
Answer: having to iron it! No a fan of ironing!

Anyway, after having to iron the fabric pieces before adding them to my page with all the other pieces, I then added some white paint, before stamping START WHERE YOU ARE, DO WHAT YOU CAN using Worn Text stamps and black Stazon ink.  This is part of the quote from the sticker that I also added to the page, with the woman using the typewriter.

Here’s a closer look at the sticker with the woman and the typewriter and the full quote…  I’m not sure why this quote from an American tennis player is relevant to the image on the sticker but it works for me for this page, so I’ll take it.

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading!

A fabulous page and quote Elle. The material pieces made a really interesting background [I hate ironing as well]. Thank you for linking up with Neet’s theme at Art Journal Journey.

I loved seeing all your bits at the start and then enjoyed the finished colourful piece with great use of text. I agree, strange to have the tennis player’s quote along with the typist image, but you worked it all in beautifully.

I love those cheery bright colors. They are the perfect background for type. And even better I see some type on some of those background pieces too. What a really fun page for Neet’s challenge. Thanks for sharing, and hope you’re having a nice week. Hugs-Erika

A wonderful collaged composition Elle! I can’t remember the last time I ironed something. It was probably teabags for some art. Lol!

Hi Elle, this is another fabulous piece for Neet’s challenge at AJJ, much appreciated. It really is a lovely theme, I think we all like it! Love the b/w photos you used, too. Have a wonderful day, hugs, Valerie

How unusual for a tennis player to use that quote with that picture – but how fortunate for you – it gave you a perfect image for this theme. I love how you have collaged all the pieces and then used the big bold lettering to make the statement. I can well imagine how this looks in real life with its mix of paper and fabric, the texture will be there and I can imagine me running my hand across the page several times.
Funny but I detest ironing, but if it comes to a small piece for my artwork it does not bother me at all.
Thanks for another entry for my theme at AJJ.
Hugs, Neet xx
