Hello everyone,

Happy Monday!  It started raining here last night and hasn’t stopped – such a shock after such a dry spell and super inconvenient for me as I wasn’t finished in the garden.  I am seriously thinking about going out there anyway, what’s a little water after all lol.

Today I have two tags to share which were inspired by the current challenge over on Tag Tuesday.  This is a two week challenge and I am posting this on the last day.  As soon as I saw that it was seashell inspired I knew I wanted to join in and it was on my to-do list, but due to all the garden work I nearly didn’t make it and so now I have both tags in the same post.  This post is also my Day 6 post for the Blog Along with Effy, links to both at the end of the post.

To start off I cut my tags from an old amazon box using a tag die.  These will form the base of my tags and I will glue them to my tag fronts.

The First Tag

For the front of the first tag I wanted to use this gel print that gives the effect of peeled paint on old wood – I thought it looked like wood on an old boat so I liked it for my seashell/beach themed tag.  I cut that to the same shape as the tag.

I used some Rubber Dance seashell stamps and this little mermaid who is also holding a seashell.

I coloured the images using Neocolor IIs and a silver pen which you can see shining in the photo below, and also used them to add some blue and green splatters to the background.

I added a smaller tag stamped with an anchor and some baker’s twine to finish off the tag.
The quote reads:  My life is like a stroll upon the beach, as near the ocean’s edge as I can go – Henry David Thoreaux

The Second Tag

I started off the same way using the second amazon box tag but this time i used this painted background that I had leftover from another project and the colour reminded me of sandy beaches. I had to make the tag out of two pieces as it wasn’t big enough to cut it from one piece.

I used a different set of Rubber Dance stamps to stamp over the background.

Then I coloured all the seashells with Neocolor IIs again, same as before and added highlights with a gold pen and some gold and pink splatters.

This tag also has its own baby tag which I stamped with the word BEACH.  To finish it off I added some red/orange baker’s twine.

This quote reads:  One cannot collect all the beautiful shells on the beach.  One can only collect a few, and they are more beautiful if they are few – Anne Morrow Lindbergh.

Here’s a look at both tags together, side by side:

Oh Elle these are just so lovely and so creative!! What a great way to recycle the boxes too! I especially love the worn plank look.
A few years ago, I when I didn’t want to splurge on canvas that I was afraid to ruin, I cut down several cardboard food boxes. The kind from mac and cheese and such. I figured it would be a great way to reuse and repurpose the boxes, while practicing art.

Fabulous tag, Elle! What would we do without Amazon cardboard to recycle? Thanks for joining us at Tag Tuesday, have a great week! Valerie

You are very talented and I really enjoyed visiting your blog today. Both tags are gorgeous and I am loving that aged plank effect you achieved from your gel print!
Thanks for sharing with us at Tag Tuesday.
