Hello everyone,
This will be a short post as I am not in a great mood today. It started off well enough but then everything I touched went wrong. Today I have an art journal page inspired by Rain’s Thursday Art Date prompt which I saw this morning was POP ART and knew straight away that I wanted to make something… that was when everything was still going OK of course, the day went downhill from there lol
I love these art prompts but I haven’t been able to join in much recently, so it was nice to see the prompt and know immediately that I had an idea that would (probably) not take long. Well that was before it took me nearly AN HOUR to find that little gel print with the white cat on it!!! For some reason it was not with the rest of them (these cats were all done back in March) and after spending all that time hunting high and low for it, ready to give up, I turned around and it was sitting on my table!!! Aarggh!!!
The paper on the right was coloured years ago when I got my first set of Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks and I was testing out all the colours, and then never did anything with it. I think this one is blackberry or blackcurrant or something like that. I glued it into my journal, and then used this other gel print with the numbers on the left side. I liked how they looked with the pop art kitties.
I really wanted my three cats to be side by side but in this small journal that would have meant one being folded in the middle of the spread so I opted to do it this way.
Everything was going well at this point and even a bit further on when I decided what to write on the page, wrote it in pencil, and then with paint marker, and I’m not going to say it was perfect but it was exactly what I wanted… and then I decided to erase the pencil lines and smudged the paint marker as it wasn’t quite dry!!!!! So in the interest of full disclosure, here is what it looked like after I tried (unsuccessfully) to fix it. Don’t you just want to cry? I tried to put neocolor IIs over it but the black showed through, so then aha I thought, get out the TIPPEX, why did I do this? It did hide the black but actually it looked so bad that I was beginning to think back fondly to the black smudges. Once the Tippex was dry I tried to camouflage it with purple neocolor but it’s just a horrible mess. *cries*
So my only solution was to cut another piece of this card and stick it down on top to cover it up – and look I can’t even put it on straight!
Let’s not look at that anymore and look at this pretty white kitty instead…
Or this one…
This last kitty has an interesting paint effect as I was using very thin printer paper when pulling the print and some of my homemade mask stuck to the print which resulted in this interestingly-marked kitty.
Hope you enjoyed the post, now you know what not to do lol. Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients

Oh Elle….it’s fabulous! I could sense your frustration in the post, but it really did turn out well! I love the Pop Art kitties! Thanks so much for joining in and I hope you find inspiration to join in again!! ?
Love all this so much

Love this completely – even your happy little accident. Still totally awesome.
Lovely page, and I know just how frustrating it is looking for something, and it’s right in front of you. Great for my theme on Art Journal Journey, thank you for sharing with us.
I loved what you created, Elle! And I enjoyed your process. It had me laughing, because I’m always screwing things up. the colors you used worked beautifully together. Have a safe and happy weekend!
Well, I wasn’t offended by the first version and yes the fix worked, but was it worth all of that frustration? I sense a little perfectionism in you 🙂 I say that and I know, I would have done the same thing including the frustration. But, in the end, it turned out quite awesome … love your cats, all three of them. Maybe we all go through that every week and just don’t admit it 🙂 Fun post, Elle …
Wow these are fabulous! Wonderful colors. Have a nice weekend.
I think you covered up your mistake beautifully. I love the Warhol cats. They are very well done and quite clever. I run into problems when I try to wrote something too soon before it’s dry. I’ve ruined at least three Micron pens that way. All in all, this turned out perfect or purrfect.
I like those cats Elle. They do look like the vintage French shape and style cat. Your colors are so much fun also. Thanks for sharing this spread for Wendy’s challenge at AJJ. Hope tomorrow is a better day for you. Hugs-Erika
Those extra cat marks are very happy accidents, brings a new edge to the kitty, copy paper can sometimes pull the best of prints. Love this pop art kitty trio.
Hope tomorrow is a better day for you.
Happy TAD Hugs Tracey xx
