Hello friends,

Today I am sharing another fabric-based journal page inspired by the VINTAGE theme over on Art Journal Journey where this month’s lovely host is Wendy K and I am also sharing the page with Country View Challenges whose theme is Leaves Begin To Fall. Challenge details at the bottom of the post.

This is another fabric I pulled out during the week of reorganising the stash!  It started out the same way as the others by sticking it to the page with gel medium and leaving it to dry overnight.

Then when everything was dry I started to add detail to it with Pitt pens.  I liked the fabric the way it was with the black and white but I just felt like I wanted to add some colour. So I added pinky/purples for flowers and I added multiple greens and orange/browns for the turning leaves that are just staring to turn in my garden at the moment.

Since it was inspired by my garden, I wrote September in the Garden down the left hand side of the page in black pen, over a neocolor II coloured panel.

I like this quote because it makes me think of other things that flutter around and look for nests and since there are both birds and butterflies on the page I thought it would fit nicely. There are also parts of music printed on the background of the fabric!

Summer doesn’t seem so far away considering we had 27C the other week but now the temperature has dropped 10 degrees and it definitely feels more like Autumn all of a sudden. The quote is written on a leftover piece of gel-printed card with some textured card behind it.

So that’s my page for today, the challenge details are below.   Meanwhile, it is probably not a great surprise that I have cat fabrics!  During my rummaging in the spare room last week, I came across quite a few of them…

And still more of them…

And look, I even have some with tea cups on them!  I thought I would share this one especially for T day – T stands for tea cup fabric!

But I guess my biggest crafty news is that I have finally finished my cross stitch cat cushion and made it into an actual cushion.  I will have a full post on this later on but here it is finally finished and dedicated to my sweet boy Wombat who I miss very much. For various reasons it took me so long to finish this cushion that I didn’t get to use it while he was around, but now I can look at it and remember him.

Happy T Day!  Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients

Elle, love your fabric journal page. Your additions are beautiful and work so well with the pattern. Love the colors and the words. Makes me what to try this! I actually did buy some fabric to try a journal page one time, but then I just sat there with it not knowing what the next step should be…my Grandson sat with me. He finally cut his into a million pieces and glued it to some paper. He loved his. I just sat and watched the joy on his face.

Your cat pillow is beautiful. So sweet to have it dedicated to your lovely kitty you miss.

You do have quite a collection of fabrics! I love them all.

Happy T-day!

Lovely fabric journal page. I haven’t tried this but this is a great idea to use up scraps.
So many fabulous fabrics in your stash. I LOVE the teacups! I am not into cats but I really like the cat print with the Asian symbols.
Happy Tea Day,

I love the art journal page, it is gorgeous. Question: when you glue down the fabric with gel medium, do you also spread a layer of gel medium on top of the fabric? It would give the fabric more tooth to work on, wouldn’t it? I wonder if otherwise the pens would “bleed” into the fabric. The cat cushion is so sweet, the cat was a cutie. I understand that you miss him.

Beautiful fabric page, lettering and quote. The cat fabrics made me smile as did the beautiful cross-stitch Wombat cushion. I thought it was done in needlepoint. I love the teacup fabric. I’ve been looking for teacup curtains (I don’t sew) and I want to get teacup drawer and cabinet handles to give the kitchen a quick makeover. Happy T Day

I always love it when someone uses fabric in their journals. Your page is so different from beginning to end, I didn’t even recognize that it was the same fabric. It’s so well done, and a great entry for Wendy’s theme at Art Journal Journey.

How clever that you used that amazing tea cup fabric for your T post this week, Elle. It’s lovely fabric and I know you are going to enjoy using it, along with the darling cat fabric.

Thanks for sharing your lovely journal page and your fabric with us for T this Tuesday.
