Hello friends,
Yes I’m afraid that it’s yet another fabric journal page but at least this one has a special surprise which will be revealed at the end of this post!
today’s journal page . . .
Don’t you just love these sugar skulls? I made a bag out of this fabric a few years ago and it just looks so cool! The fabric is again stuck down with gel medium, and then after it was dry, I did the secret thing to it! Any guesses what that might be? You might be able to tell if you look really closely…
Then I wrote out the quote on another piece of the recycled Schuh paper bag (love that green!) The quote is by Edgar Allan Poe and reads:
Believe Nothing You Hear
And Only One Half That You See
I didn’t notice this until after I had taken the photo but look, do you see the creepy hand reaching out on the right hand side? It’s from the Hush the Gentlemen are coming page which is underneath this one. How spooky! But that’s not the surprise!
This is the surprise!
When you turn the lights off, this happens…
I painted parts of the page with glow in the dark paint lol, some of the eyes, the teeth and then some of the whole skulls – hard to tell what’s what while it’s being painted so I had to wait till it was dark to see if it worked! I was thinking about Rain’s Thursday Art Date theme for this week when I got the idea for this page. The theme is Being Watched, so these little guys are always watching even when you don’t think they are, even when the lights are off! So in the daylight you are only seeing half of what’s really there, “only one half that you see” and in the dark something else entirely to see. They are watching you even if you don’t know it!
THURSDAY MORNING EDIT: Thank you Rain for choosing me as the featured artist/blogger this week, what a surprise this morning and so appreciated!
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients
