Hello friends,
Hope you are having a good week. Today has been extra hectic with vets and heating engineers so this post is very late and I need to be quick or I will never get it done!
today’s journal page . . .
Today’s journal page is brought to you by this piece of Halloween witchy fabric which takes centre stage in this double double page spread.
Here is the fabric that it was cut from…
I of course, bought it for the cute witch with the black cat, because anything with cats right lol. But I remembered there was also a witch on a broomstick so I planned to use it for this week’s Thursday Art Date with Rain where the prompt was going to be Broomsticks.
After I cut her out from the fabric, I realised just how big she was and that she would not fit in my regular journal! But since I am creating all my Halloween pages in this journal, I really didn’t want to put her somewhere else, so I stuck two pages together using masking tape, and made her a kind of centrefold pin up page. You can see the regular fold down the middle of my journal page, and then I added a second page on top of that, so that top page will fold down, and then the regular page will fold along the centre and fit in my journal like all the other pages. I will make a short video to show how this works when I have more time, but not today because today is crazy!
The fabric background is purple so I painted the rest of the page in purple acrylic. And that’s where I left it last week, wondering what to do next. Yesterday and today have been a bit hectic and so I didn’t get any time to work on it until late this afternoon, and I thought it just wasn’t going to happen today. After staring at it for a while I realised that what it needed was more broomsticks, so I drew on six more with five different coloured paint pens.
I tried to make them look like they were flying around her. I also painted over the silver boot that was sticking into the middle of the moon from one of the other witches, and painted in the toe of her shoe that was missing from where the fabric was cut. There’s a wrinkle in the fabric just above her knee that makes it look like she has wrinkles in her stockings lol.
Then I quickly drew some black cats at the top and bottom of the page to keep her company. I also touched up her dress to make it less revealing and cover her up a bit, I lowered the hem of her dress and made the V neck less of a deep V. I thought it would probably be a bit chilly up on that broomstick and didn’t want her to catch cold! I would have liked to add a cat on the back of her broomstick, but there wasn’t much room on there… unless it was a very small cat… hmmm might try to do that tomorrow.
And then finally, added this quote from one of my favourite TV shows ever – Bewitched! I loved Bewitched, I used to try and make my nose twitch like Samantha but could never manage it lol.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients

Hi Elle!! I love the fabric, all of it! Your journal page is so beautiful, with the additions of the cats and broomsticks! You are so creative, I’m getting a lot of inspiration from reading your posts thank you! Love this journal page a lot! I was a big fan of Bewitched too, NOT the modern movie…the tv show! 🙂 I liked the old Darrin better than the new one! Dick York, he played some good acting roles on Alfred Hitchcock Presents! 🙂
Wow – you have the coolest fabrics! I love this witch (especially after you fixed her up a bit) and the fun words! Super fun October page, Elle. The cats are perfect too.
Such fun fabric! I love the quote from Bewitched! This has such a nostalgic feel to it!
Love the altering of her outfit, and the addition of cats and brooms! And the quote!! A Lovely Samantha- cool & creative page!
Great sentiment – I used to love Bewitched!
Another fabulous fabric – would make a wonderful Halloween costume…
Happy Halloween hopping…

OK now this is truly awesome!!!!! I want that fabric. LOL Have a great day.
She is posed just like Samantha. And quite happy looking too. I like how you circled the brooms around her. That is clever. What a fun page for Tracey’s challenge. Thanks for sharing Elle. It’s a fun month for art, isn’t it? Hugs-Erika
