Hello friends,
Hope your week has been OK so far.  We have been to the vet today (yes again!), it was very stressful for everyone, my evil cat maimed me and everyone else, so when I came back I hid in the studio for a little while and tried to not think about it for a while. I was managing to work ahead at least one day, but now I’m back to chasing my tail again.

today’s art . . .

Today’s art is another journal page for my Day 10 of Art Every Day Month and for the current theme over on Art Journal Journey which is All kinds of Weather, and was chosen by this month’s lovely host, Chris from PearShapedCrafting.  A few days ago I woke up to this rainbow:

It reminded me I had still not done the rainbow Life Book Taster Session so I thought it would be a quick and easy one to do today since I had less time due to vet visits etc.

This is based on one of Tamara Laporte’s Life Book Taster Sessions for 2022 called Rainbow of Joy.  I can’t remember much about it except that she used watercolour and wrote all the things she gave her joy in the different coloured bands.  I couldn’t be bothered looking it up because of my day, so I just did whatever felt right.

What felt right was using my Neocolours instead of watercolour paints.  This looks a lot like a children’s crayon drawing doesn’t it lol  I used analogous colours but not the same ones, I used magenta, through purple, blue and round to green.  After activating the Neocolors with water, I painted out the rainbow and let it drip down the page.  After it was dry, I thought I would add more to it, and so I got out my metallic watercolours and painted on top of it.  I actually just got a few more colours today (first time I’ve ordered anything for a long time) and a second palette so I got to rearrange my palettes around to fit in the new colours.  As you can see, I still have a few spaces to fill but the colours I wanted were out of stock.

They look so dramatically different on dark paper, so I like to swatch them out on both so I can see what they are really like.

Some of them are not so impressive on light backgrounds but they really shine on the dark!

I added lots of splatters with white paint pen, and some of the metallics, and drew some little white starts on the rainbow.  Then I used the green metallic watercolour to write out BE A RAINBOW and then a black Posca to write IN SOMEONE ELSE’S CLOUD – though I always get that mixed up and want to say BE A CLOUD IN SOMEONE ELSE’S RAINBOW which is not nearly as nice LOL. That’s it for today, just barely managed to take half decent photos before the sun went down and it was suddenly dark.  Now it’s time for dinner!

Sorry that I haven’t been by as regularly as I usually do Elle. I need to use my computer as you’re not on blogger, rather than my phone. Anyhow, I finally pulled my computer out of my suitcase. I lveo this rainbow page and it is wonderful for AJJ and for AEDM. Thanks for sharing with us. Hugs-Erika

This is absolutely stunning. I also did a rainbow from Tam’s taster, but mine pales by comparison to yours. I love the sentiment and the drips. It is wonderful and also great for Chris’s theme at art Journal Journey, too.
