Today I had a plan, and then stuff happened and I forgot all about my plan and so consequently some things that needed doing today did not get done! All of that had a knock on effect and so this page almost didn’t get done either! Argh! But here we are and it is finished…

Today I am sharing this art journal page which I finished so late that I had to take photos under the SAD lamp! Turned out OK, considering LOL. This is my Day 26 offering for Art Every Day Month. All links are at the end of the post. I don’t know why, but I seem to be using a lot of blue at the moment, this page is no exception!
I got this idea last night when I was thinking about the weather and then this Crowded House song just popped into my head, and so it had to be done! Great band, saw them so often back in the day. The song is called Weather With You and you can listen to it here on Youtube. The idea behind this song “Weather with You” is that wherever we go, we always take our own weather with us, meaning that we are the ones that create our own environment – happy or sad, positive or negative. It’s like if you think moving to a new city will change your life but actually it will just be the same unless you change yourself, right. So my idea was to have this little cat walking through different weather, different seasons and taking the umbrella with her. She still has it with her, regardless of what the weather is doing outside on her walk.
This page started off well enough but then because I was rushing, I made some mistakes and had to chop it up. I painted the backgrounds for the different seasons in the wrong order, not that anyone would have noticed but me, since they were all painted shades of blue, but they weren’t in the order I wanted them, so I cut them up and made them into panels (in the right order). They were always going to be panels with black around them but all on one layer, so the effect is the same, just more work! The backgrounds are painted with Neocolor IIs, and the ground with black Stabilo. I added different weather elements to each panel, rain for Spring, sun for Summer, wind blowing the leaves around for Autumn and snow for Winter. I also added green grass, pink flowers, leaves and snow on the ground on each of the panels. The final step was to write out the words from the song in a white pen and then go make dinner!

Yes, I’m late visiting because I was attending too many parties this weekend and not spending any time on the computer. I LOVE how each of the seasons is represented and how your cat has her umbrella to shade her from whatever the weather my bring. Truly great entry for Chris’s theme at Art Journal Journey, dear Elle.

Love the cat with his struggle with the umbrella, the wind is terrible here and has done a lot of damage. Seats and heavy posts on the ground broken.
