Hello Friends!
I’m a bit late posting today again but at least I know what day it is! So what is happening with us, the foot problems continue so I have been spending a lot of it with it elevated and no time at all in the studio as those two things just don’t go together 🙁 As I said last time, it’s not a new problem but this current flare up is not good and is taking too long to heal. It’s also been very cold and of course with no heating that’s not fun either and we even had snow last week which was just the icing on the cake lol. I am also feeling a bit tired and not very motivated, most like because of the cold and lack of sugar so I have been offline since about last Tuesday!
Mr G is doing better and I swapped them over to grain-free food last week and they took to it immediately and so far no problems. I was expecting Miss Lily to say no thanks and try to bury it but she likes it! Last week I shared my New Year decisions so I thought I would give a little update below…
Sugar – free
I have now been completely sugar free for 10 days and didn’t have any withdrawal symptoms or cravings so that’s been good so far. By giving up sugar I also meant giving up bread, pasta, pastry etc so there are none of those things left in the house any more – and I can’t eat them if I don’t buy them!
Buy nothing
I was so close to breaking this decision last weekend as there was a 50% class sale on Jeanne Oliver’s site but after spending probably hours looking through all the 100+ classes, I managed to convince myself I could do without them. So far, nothing non-essential has been purchased!
Giving it away
Last week I filled two bags with sealed, in-date food and took it to the food bank. This is all food I have decided to eliminate from my diet and it occurred to me that maybe since I don’t it’s healthy, perhaps I shouldn’t inflict it on other people, but then everyone is responsible for their own choices and some people don’t have the luxury of picking and choosing what they want to eat, so all food gratefully received at the food bank.
today’s art . . .
Today’s art is a birthday card I made last week and posted out 1st class mail and it still didn’t arrive on time! The mail is so slow here at the moment.
It’s a very simple card that was supposed to be quickly made to get in the post, but then I smudged it and couldn’t hide the smudge so then I had to start over and all the time trying to rush so I didn’t miss the mail collection! Bah!
It features one of my favourite Lynne Perrella stamps, an Alison Bomber winter quote stamp, some Infusions and some gold acrylic ink.
t stands for . . .
My ticket to tea this week is this tea advent calendar I showed before Christmas. Myself and the two friends I sent it to are currently working our way through the days – we all decided to start this month.
Today is After Dinner tea which is one of my favourites, it has chicory, cardamom, cinnamon and ginger as its main flavours.
Let me know what you think in the comments and Happy T Day! As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients
watercolour paper, stamps by Paperartsy, Infusions, Gold acrylic ink, stazon ink

I love your art card! You know I love this set of stamps! Good Luck with the new regime – we all have too much I’m sure! As for sugar – I know what happens if eat too much sugar but can’t imagine a life without bread(although not too much) Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
I am sorry about your foot and being cold. Not fun at all. You do sound very organized and determined and that is a good thing. Take it easy and heal, sending that healing energy to you.
Sorry your foot is still giving you issues and I am wishing for Spring to hurry along so you will be warmer. Totally impressed by your new year’s resolution progress. I am still doing well on mine too (actually drinking the right amount of water, 2 cups of nutrient rich veggies by 2:00pm, healthier food choices, at least a small amount of exercise each day – all to feel and look better as 2021 ended a bit worse for wear – lol). Love your card – I really do need to get some of Alison’s sentiments. Very cool background and image choice. The tea sounds great! Take care and get in that studio! Happy T-day and hugz
Sorry about your foot and heating.
But big wow to how you stick to your goals. I only do low carb. Think otherwise my Hubby would flip 😉
Good with your cats. I enjoy having a customer who has a cat that always hops on her lap to join our work 🙂
Great card and WOW to the cuppa, beautiful!
A tea advent calendar, what a fun idea! Your card is fun, too. I couldn’t live without bread – and I mean real bread, dark, whole grain dense bread with no added sugar (it seems that here in the States a lot of bread has added sugar). That’s what I miss the most since I moved from Germany to the US.
Your card is beautiful. You can never go wrong with one of Lynne’s stamps. And the background is wonderful, too.
I applaud you for giving up sugar. but am glad you took the food to the food bank. I’m a bit confused, though. Pasta, whether fresh or dried is made of only flour and water, sometimes with eggs, sometimes with gluten free flour. But there is NO sugar in pasta. And for some people, pasta is a luxury. For others it is a god-send.
I have a very small craft budget and for the past two years, I have spent less than 1/4 the amount I have allowed myself. The only thing I have purchased in two years were some dies for my new-to-me die cutter. As for food, I consider ice cream (which has LOTS of sugar) a luxury, but I buy it every so often. I also bought Brussels sprouts, which to me were a luxury, but I wanted them at Christmas. Luxury items are truly in the eyes of the beholder.
Sorry to read you are still having foot problems. I feel for Mr. G, too. Hope you two can cuddle together to stay warm and heal.
I LOVE your beautiful tea cup and those teas look great, too. Nice you and your friends can share the advent calendar teas together.
Thanks for sharing your lovely birthday card, your continued New Year decisions, and your advent teas with us in that lovely cup with us for T this Tuesday, dear Elle.
Glad to hear all the resolutions are going good. Stay strong. Hope the foot feels better soon. And stay warm. I hope you had a super T day Elle. hugs-Erika
All those teas look good. I love hot tea, and love trying new ones. Kudo to you for taking food that you aren’t going to eat any longer to the food bank. That is a win-win solution!
Happy T Day!
Wow and kudos to you for achieving your goals. I don’t think I’d be able to give up sugar. Lovely card. I hope your foot feels better soon so you can get back in the studio. Take care. Happy T Day
Sounds like you are off to a great start with accomplishing your goals.
I would love to take a Jeanne Oliver class but I can never bring myself to spend money on classes when there are so many free ones available. Maybe some day if I ever have disposable income.
Your tea sounds delicious! The combo of cardamom and ginger is perfect for after dinner.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
