Hello friends,

Hope you are having a good week and getting some arty crafty time.  I am happy to report that I watched some classes from the Virtual Art Summit which is currently happening and I also got some journal pages made yesterday/today!  This post is for the first page as although they are related, I like to keep things in separate posts. It’s a very dull day today and there is either something wrong with my camera or it is just down to the weather but the photos are darker than I would like them to be even after Photoshopping them but hopefully they are good enough to show the details.

today’s art . . .

This page is intended for two current challenges – Art Journal Journey has a bird challenge this month and Country View Challenges has a cat challenge.  This page started off as my attempt at making blog birds from the Terry Runyan Sketchbook Revival class back in March.  I had no time to do any of the classes at the time but I did get to watch them and had the class pdfs to refer too.   As you can see, most of my “birds” turned into cats.  Here’s a look at both pages at the blob stage…

The class was about making blobs randomly on the page and turning them into birds and some into cats as Terry is a big cat person too, but as my blobs on the top started to look like birds and my blobs on the bottom started to look like cats, I could see a scene developing where the cats were all looking up at the birds, so I decided to go with it.

I drew some trees and branches for the birds to perch on.  Then I thought I would help the cats out with their little problem…

So I gave them some handy saws to use and that reminded me of the patience quote about how we behave while we are patiently waiting.

Hope you feel inspired to join in the challenges this month.

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients

I love the humor you brought to this journal page, Elle. It is both fun and funky. Such clever cats and cute birds. Thanks for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey using Matilde’s theme.

So glad I came to this page after your blobby cat one. I love those birds. The addition of the dots on the breasts makes them real birds to me. Gorgeous kis how I describe the way you turned these blobs into birds.
Love the quote and the whole page is a true delight.
Hugs, Neet xx

Cats do have the most amazing patience. I like how you left the cats with only a form but added lots of details to make the birds stand out. It’s a really fun page! THanks for sharing with us for Matilde’s challenge at AJJ. hugs-Erika

A fantastic page Elle and I did have a smile at the cats eyes looking on the birds. Thank you for linking to Matilde’s theme at AJJ

What an absolutely brilliant page Elle! Loved that lesson – I have a page of blobs just to fill in birds occasionally if I feel like it , although I did make 4 pages (at least) to start with! Another great page for Matilde’s theme at AJJ, Hugs, Chrisx
