Hello friends!
Have you been enjoying the Kaleidoscope Taster Sessions list past week? I have but I have not had a chance to try any of the lessons until the end of the first week – just as well there’s an extension (there’s always an extension lol). So the lesson I chose, which also happen’s to be the very first lesson is, for obvious reasons – The Cat’s Meow lesson from Tamara Laporte.
I watched the lesson while I was moving stuff around in the studio so I missed a few things while i was sorting out boxes and cupboards but I got the gist of it. I like that she used Daniel Smith’s Opera Pink, one of my favourites, but when I came to do my version, I opted for Qor’s Cobalt Magenta as the Qor colours are so vibrant and also unpredictable so I was curious to see what would happen when I painted a large shape in all the one colour, as the paint moves quite differently to other brands.
Here’s the finished painting on A4 hot press watercolour paper. It’s VERY pink lol.
I remembered to snap a photo while the watercolour was still wet. The QOR set that I have is only six colours so to get green I mixed Cobalt Teal with Quinacridone Gold. There is an interesting separation taking place.
This cat reminds me of The Pink Panther cat from the old cartoons – remember him? But my cat is a girl cat! She doesn’t have a name, Flora springs to mind though, maybe she can be a Flora.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients
