Hello friends!

Happy Tuesday!  Hope your Tuesday is going well.  Our weather is not co-operating with the weather forecasters and keeps raining when it’s not supposed to, so instead of a weekend taking care of the garden, I just had to have a weekend of watching Wanderlust classes and painting – it was lovely and I got so much done!  Five whole classes completed and then four journal pages for this month’s AJJ challenge (hint: they all contain cats!) 🙂

Currently Reading . . .

The Girl in the Tower

I am on my first book for September and it is the second book in the Winternight trilogy that started with The Bear and the Nightingale, my last book for August.

For a young woman in medieval Russia, the choices are stark: marriage or life in a convent. Vasya will choose a third way: magic. . .

The court of the Grand Prince of Moscow is plagued by power struggles and rumours of unrest. Meanwhile bandits roam the countryside, burning the villages and kidnapping its daughters. Setting out to defeat the raiders, the Prince and his trusted companion come across a young man riding a magnificent horse.

Only Sasha, a priest with a warrior’s training, recognises this ‘boy’ as his younger sister, thought to be dead or a witch by her village. But when Vasya proves herself in battle, riding with remarkable skill and inexplicable power, Sasha realises he must keep her secret as she may be the only way to save the city from threats both human and fantastical. . .

Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is something I made for this week’s Wanderlust lesson, which was with Laly Mille,  The Week 35 lesson was based around creating a bouquet of watercoloured flowers.  It did not include a cat but I needed to add one in that convenient blank spot on the left that looked like it was just waiting for a cat to sit.

The cat also makes this page eligible for Neet’s theme this month on Art Journal Journey.  I don’t know what happened to his eye, I think something got smudged but it’s making me think of Egyptian cats with heavy eye makeup lol. I could have Photoshopped it out but decided to leave it as is.
The bouquet is made with various watercoloured bits and pieces and then glued down to a page, but when I found this piece of watercolour paper where I had started painting little blue flowers (hydrangeas) and didn’t finish so I decided to use that for my background and to build up the bouquet.

T Stands For . . . my messy desk

Here’s my finished page as I was getting ready to photograph it.  In the background my coffee mug and also my French press, and my current book playing on my phone.  This is the secret to multitasking, listen to audiobooks whenever you don’t need your ears for anything else, so listening and arting go well together.

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading!

Sad about your weather. Rain predicted here too now.
Medieval times…. in my hometown they just had the “Sehusafest” with stuff around that (I greew up with that so no interest to see it again ;-)…)
Sounds interesting, though.

I absolutely LOVE your art!
I still did not dare to try watercolors.
Hahaha, if you saw my desk 😉

What do you use on the phone for books?

Belated happy T-Day xx

Elle, your bouquet is magnificent, I love how you built it up and then used it against the hydrangea background and I just adore the cat. I love his eye whether or not it is like an Egyptian cats eye, he is a magnificent animal and has found the perfect place to sit.
Great quote you have used, so fitting and perfect for my theme at Art Journal Journey. Thanks for calling in.
Hugs, Neet xx ps we have just had a torrential downpour

Your flower bouquet looks lovely and the cat next to it is the cream on top! I love Laly Mille’s art and her way of teaching her lessons. Happy T day!

What a stunning page you created for Neet’s theme at Art Journal Journey. I am in awe of those fussy cut flowers and the background you created, too. The cat was the perfect addition and goes so well with the quote you chose.

I LOVE your cat mug. I am glad it is you who has to clean that French press and not me. That’s the reason I gave mine back to the person who gave it to me in the first place. It’s certainly a lovely photo of your multitasking, though. I can see adding a cell phone just to listen to books on tape. Thanks for sharing your art, your book, and your coffee with us for T this Tuesday, dear Elle.

Your book sounds interesting. Your journal page is wonderful and the cat really completes it. We just finished watching The Lord of the Rings trilogy a couple of weeks ago. Happy T Day. PS Your desk is quite tidy.
