Hello friends!

As I mentioned yesterday, I have been working on some cat pages for Neet’s theme this month on Art Journal Journey so I have one to share with you today.

Today’s Art . . .

So here she is! Today’s page is inspired by my little furry muse – Miss Lily – who is actually a black kitty as you probably know, but for this page she is a grey kitty. I intended to paint her black but after painting this background, the grey under-layers just looked so nice next to it that I decided to keep it grey.

It might look like a bit of a strange pose, but she is well known as a bit of a contortionist kitty… here’s the photo I was working from…

It was her cute little pawsies that made me choose this photo – they just look so soft and velvety but of course inside the velvet glove is the iron paw lol.

This pink is one of my favourite colours.  It’s Opera Rose by Sennelier and you can see it on the far left of this very messy palette.

So instead of a black cat with a blue background, we have a grey cat with a pink background.  One of the reasons for changing it was because of something else I was working on at the same time that just happened to have a blue background so I wanted to change it up a bit and not have them looking the same..

The quote is one by James Herriot (the well known author and vet) and reads:

I have felt cats rubbing their faces against mine and touching my cheek with claws carefully sheathed.  These things, to me, are expressions of love.  – James Herriot

I like this quote as I have felt the same things with cats and feel the same way as he does about what it means, perhaps you have felt it too?

I just saw that the TIOT challenge is also about animals today, so I am linking there too.

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading!

Oh a cat again-SMILE! ?I very much like this cat, and going grey is a good choice. Painting a black animal and getting in features and shading isn’t easy, at least I think so. This is perfect for Our Try ItOn Tuesday challenge. Thanks for joining us. Hugs Erika

First, my sincere condolences on the passing of your beloved Queen. Second, I adore your lovely cat inspired by Miss Lily. James Herriott’s quote is brilliant and his wisdom is a favorite of mine after seeing the PBS TV series. Your grey cat with the sheathed paws is adorable, and your pink background really brings the kitty to the foreground and makes it pop. Thanks for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey using Neet’s theme.

Fabulous page, love you colour combination. I bet this theme suits you really well. We only have one left out of our five now.

Miss Lily is looking cute there against the pink background, and that’s a lovely quote Elle x

I so agree with James Herriott and I wish I had my little Tabs back with me in a morning. She used to walk up the bed ever so carefully and then nuzzle my face with her tiny little nose, no reaction would necessitate her giving me a gentle nude or two with her sheathed paw. How I miss her and her love.
Ah well, no time to get teary, there are comments to be made and I love that you have painted Miss Lily in grey. She is that gorgeous grey that I so love when I see cats in that colour. And how brilliant does she look against that gorgeous pink that you chose. I always like pink and grey but never have tried one so bright – I will in future.
Thanks for another lovely journal page for my theme – more to come I hope.
Hugs, Neet xx
