Hello friends!

I wonder if you thought this page was going to be some leftover cat food or perhaps an unlucky mouse?  But no, it’s a page made from a bunch of leftover bits and pieces including cats leftover from other projects.

Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is a bit random.  I’ve been trying to use up all the little bits and pieces and leftovers for a while now and I used a bunch of them to make this page.  Most of what you see below is from last year, except the very colourful Laurel Burch stamped cats which are leftovers from some birthday cards from a few years ago – 2018 eek!  I had stamped more than I needed and then they just sat in a box… until now that is!  Now they are getting used in a very bright page.  I’m glad to be using them up after all this time of them just being stored!

The green background is a gel print from a couple of years ago (September 2019 to be exact).  It was one of the ones using tape to make it look like weathered wood.  I loved the technique and made many pages and then didn’t know what to do with them.

The blue pieces are also leftover gel prints and the green cat on the left is stamped over another gel print. The brown embossed card and the bright pink CAT and PURRS are leftover from pages created for AJJ’s Type theme from last August which was also hosted by Neet!

The brown kraft paper with the paw prints is off the box of cat food that arrived last week from Zooplus.  They use those boxes with a perforated strip that tears off to open the box.  I loved that they had made the effort to make it decorative instead of just regular brown card. I took the corrugated part off and just saved the paper with the print on it.

To finish off the page, I did some journalling in pencil all over the green background.  You can see it a little bit on the photo above and in the two above that one.  I wrote it in pencil so it would be deliberately faint for privacy. Then I glued the green page onto some watercolour paper so it can be added to my journal and added some shadows with black and brown stabilis.

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading!

What a beautiful art journal page you created, Elle! I love that you used scraps from your stash to make this page. I especially like your Laurel Burch stamped cats and really love how you did your journaling, too.

Dear Elle,
this is the perfect upcycling by leftovers – I really like your purring double page – both in terms of the subject and the motifs and the color combination.
PURRRRRRRR!
All the best,
Traude

How lovely that you have used some bits from my theme last year. I love how you have used all those bits and pieces to create such a lovely journal page. I too have the Laurel Burch cats – who could resist them! I used them an awful lot for birthday cards for two years running.
This is a super page Elle and i am so pleased you joined in with the theme again.
See you soon? Hugs, Neet xx

I’m loving those bright colors Elle. They work well together. And is t it great to use up pieces? This is a fun page and I am Definitely glad it’s not a partially eaten mouse. Smile. Thanks for sharing with us at AJJ for Neet’s challenge. And I hope your week has been going well. HugsErikA
