Hi Friends,

So glad you have decided to visit here today! Saturday was World Postcard Day, the 153rd one to be exact, and so I celebrated by sending out lots of postcards.  If I have your address, you might have received (or are about to receive) a postcard from me!  Did you send out any postcards to celebrate World Postcard Day?

Today also marks the start of World Space Week, and to celebrate that I thought I would show you some of my special stamps.

These are Star Trek the original series stamps, though they also produced stamps for the other spin off series. I liked these ones the best, some of the other character choices were weird, but who doesn’t want a stamp with Mr Spock on it!

Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is a page using my Day 4 prompt:  Cosmos

Someone asked me if I am working ahead and how many pages have I prepared.  The answer is no, not working ahead and the only page I prepared in advance was the page for Day 1 to introduce the theme.  Even when I made up the daily prompts I had no page ideas in mind, so I prefer to wing it and see what comes out on the day.   This page was started last night because I had to paint the galaxy background and let it dry naturally, so that it was ready for me to add the flowers this morning.  I had been thinking yesterday of ways to combine both meanings of the word “cosmos” and came up with this idea just before I went to bed.   So as I said, today marks the start of World Space Week, which got me thinking about the Cosmos, but then I found out that Cosmos (the flower) is also the birth flower for October, which made me think of astrology, which then made me think about space again!  LOL

My page today is inspired by the Cosmos, some cosmos, and astrology folklore.  The 12 signs of the zodiac are based on Greek mythology which then, like so many other things, was borrowed by the Romans.  Even though the star signs all have Latin names, behind all those Latin names are the same stories that all originate in Greek Mythology.

For example, here is a link to the story about Scorpius and Orion, Scorpio being the star sign from October 23 till November 22.

Hope you feel inspired to join in the challenge this month and have fun with it!

T Stands For . . .

I have been moving furniture and 1000s of books since Sunday, yes again with the furniture moving lol. This is all the furniture I moved in April, well now I am moving it all back again and then some!  Plus also now the shed roof is fixed I am hoping some of it can at least leave the house and go live in the shed.  Also in the process of moving stuff, I found this neon sign so I hung it up above the computer to send out good vibes across the interwebs.  It plugs into the PC and has a brightness control so it could almost be used as a light on its brightest setting (this is not it’s brightest setting btw).

…and a new mug!  I know I said before I had a cupboard full of unused mugs and that is sill true but when I saw this one the other day I couldn’t resist.

If you like it and are in the UK, then I got it in ASDA when I was doing some grocery shopping.  It was only £2.50 – they had cat mum, cat dad, and also dog mum and dog dad – very cute right?

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients

Daily Prompts

Here are the prompts I will be using and you can probably tell that a lot of them are related to fairytales, but you don’t have to use them that way or you don’t have to use them at all.  I will be attempting all 31 days but I may not make it and that’s OK too.  The prompts are there if you feel stuck or in need of extra inspiration.   I just respond well to a daily prompt and I will also be sharing my pages on Instagram.  If you share your work on Instagram there is a hashtag.  Please note, that to enter the Art Journal Journey challenge using the Mr Linky tool, you will have to link from a blog since it is a blog challenge.

Or you can ignore the daily prompts completely and focus on the overarching theme for the month.  The daily prompts are there if you want to make more pages but need some extra prompting.

I absolutely adore your Cosmos picture! It makes me think of a show we had here in the States when I was a kid called Cosmos. When I learned that the iron coursing through our bloodstreams was forged in the stars, my mind was blown. And now I’m getting art ideas….

haha, I LOVE Star Treck. Kirk and Spock and all of them. I really would love to see them again. But Swedish TV is not much for SF. 🙁

Loving the galaxy theme on your journal page. The colors are SO pretty.
Cute mug.
I have never heard of postcard day. Sounds like a fun day and a good reason to send and receive postcards.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

I’ve not seen those stamps- used to love Star Trek in it’s early days. Your Cosmos page is fabulous! What a fun mug , although most cats I’ve known are more likely to have servants!!! Happy T Day, hugs, Chrisx

I love your cosmos page, how cool to combine the Cosmos and the flower, very clever. I had no idea that Saturday was World Postcard Day, but I really enjoyed your postcard that arrived before that. Well, you already know that. Thank you for letting me know about the cat stamp, I ordered it right away! Your new cat mug is super cute – I am sure if I had seen it here I probably could not have resisted it either. Happy T day, Elle!
