Hi Friends,

I’m catching up with another page after having some time to spend arting today. The good news is I have day 16 and 17 drying upstairs so I feel on top of things again.  So here is another page fresh of the art table…

Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is a page using my Day 15 prompt:  Bleubeard
Who could resist making this one a prompt!  This one is especially for Elizabeth of Bleubeard and Elizabeth.
There are many versions and variations on this tale (tail) most of which consist of Bleubeard murdering a lot of (all of) his wives and hiding them in a secret room.  It’s a cautionary tale for sure!  The quote I used above kind of sums it up – you can go anywhere except that one room that I told you not to, but of course, curiosity killed the cat, and so it’s inevitable that she will have to open the door and look inside!

The idea for this page comes from the tale where the latest wife, unable to resist temptation, finds the key, creeps along the corridor and up the steps, determined to open the door and look inside the forbidden room.  I was playing with the idea of having a door that opened so after I painted my door, I cut around it so that the contents of the secret room would be revealed. I also made a little latch to hold the door closed.

Surprise!  In my version of the fairytale the secret room holds only one very large grey cat!

I gave him a villainous mustache though in keeping with the spirit of the original tale, but you can see he loves her as he has made a heart with his tail.

I made a short reel showing the woman opening the door, hopefully it will display here, fingers crossed eh!

Daily Prompts

Here are the prompts I will be using and you can probably tell that a lot of them are related to fairytales, but you don’t have to use them that way or you don’t have to use them at all.  I will be attempting all 31 days but I may not make it and that’s OK too.  The prompts are there if you feel stuck or in need of extra inspiration.   I just respond well to a daily prompt and I will also be sharing my pages on Instagram.  If you share your work on Instagram there is a hashtag.  Please note, that to enter the Art Journal Journey challenge using the Mr Linky tool, you will have to link from a blog since it is a blog challenge.

Or you can ignore the daily prompts completely and focus on the overarching theme for the month.  The daily prompts are there if you want to make more pages but need some extra prompting.

Whew! This tale ends much better than original. I love that you made the door so it could open. Brilliant!

This is a fun page but even better that you can open that door. Oh I love that kitty (Bleubeard) with that evil mustache. There used to be a cartoon in the US (and maybe elsewhere) with the evil man called Snively Whiplash. That was his mustache too. I hope that woman can escape the feline Bleubeard. This is another good one Elle. Hugs-Erika

I believe this is my first time here. One of my friend like to do doors. She says there is mystery behind a door. Hopeful some time I can take part in your prompt.
If you have time stop in for a cup of coffee.
