Hi Friends,
Happy Sunday evening! I try to be offline as much as possible on the weekends (actually who am I kidding, I try to be offline as much as possible full stop lol.) but I have set myself a daily challenge and so I don’t want to get too far behind, though running a little behind is inevitable because: life. So here is another page fresh of the art table…
Today’s Art . . .
Today’s art is a page using my Day 14 prompt: The Wild Hunt
From Wikipedia: The Wild Hunt is a folklore motif that occurs in the folklore of various northern European cultures. Wild Hunts typically involve a chase led by a mythological figure escorted by a ghostly or supernatural group of hunters engaged in pursuit. The leader of the hunt is often a named figure associated with Odin in Germanic legends, but may variously be a historical or legendary figure like Theodoric the Great, the Danish king Valdemar Atterdag, the Welsh psychopomp Gwyn ap Nudd, biblical figures such as Herod, Cain, Gabriel, or the Devil, or an unidentified lost soul or spirit either male or female. The hunters are generally the souls of the dead or ghostly dogs, sometimes fairies, valkyries, or elves.
The Wild Hunt is also often featured in various fantasy book series, for example, in Jim Butcher’s Dresden File book series, the Wild Hunt features in at least four of the books in the series for various reasons and in various forms.
I hit on the idea for this page after finishing and posting my Halloween cards which used the same stamp set but didn’t get a chance to work on the page until later. It was really this cat stamp and this sentiment that made me think of it. What’s behind him? Well the Wild Hunt of course!
It’s the same stamp again, stamped multiple times and then I changed the eyes to make them more like an angry mob, or a clowder of cats or in fact, a wild hunt!
I made a short reel showing the page, hopefully it will display here, fingers crossed eh!

Daily Prompts
Here are the prompts I will be using and you can probably tell that a lot of them are related to fairytales, but you don’t have to use them that way or you don’t have to use them at all. I will be attempting all 31 days but I may not make it and that’s OK too. The prompts are there if you feel stuck or in need of extra inspiration. I just respond well to a daily prompt and I will also be sharing my pages on Instagram. If you share your work on Instagram there is a hashtag. Please note, that to enter the Art Journal Journey challenge using the Mr Linky tool, you will have to link from a blog since it is a blog challenge.
Or you can ignore the daily prompts completely and focus on the overarching theme for the month. The daily prompts are there if you want to make more pages but need some extra prompting.
i also had never heard of the wild hunt, so was pleased you explained it to us. I love how you treated the cats and the hunt. I hope the kitty gets far away.
Very clever… love it ! Thanks for sharing with us at Country View Challenges!
Haha!!! This is fantastic! I love your wild hunts with these snarky cats! Brilliant idea!!! Thank you for joining the October challenge of the Country View Challenges!
Oh Elle, I love this depiction of The Wild Hunt! The kitty definitely has her work cut out for her, but I’m sure she will outwit them.
I haven’t heard of the wild hunt, so thank you for explaining it. And I love how you illustrated your page. I hope that kitty gets away from that evil looking group of ghostly kitties. This page really tells a story, and it is perfect for your challenge. Hope you had a great weekend. Hugs-Erika
