Hi Friends,
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I am up to date with Care December and working my way through the other two challenges and I hope to have them all complete before the end of the month/year! The main issue at the moment is having so little good light to take the photos – approx a hour a day lol – so I need to be quick and home at the right time! If you haven’t heard of this event, Care December is held by the Wanderlust people, Everything Art UK, it’s a free event that anyone can join on their website.
Today’s Art . . .
About today’s pages: This might be my favourite page in this journal so far. The background is made with Infusions and splattered with gold paint. After using all the same blues/turquoises/greens throughout the rest of the journal so far, I thought I would change it up and use this amazing magenta/violet colour instead. I had these pieces leftover from all the Christmas cards I made so I thought I would use them to make a little winter scene in the middle of my journal – a popup page!
Care December Day 18
So intentional social media, interesting prompt, and something that needs more consideration, but we could all do with less mindless scrolling through instagram or endlessly checking our phones for messages and notifications. It reminds me of something a character said in a book I was reading earlier in the month, when they were also complaining about mobile phones and the number of times people feel the need to look at them for updates – and what he said was “would you go check your front door that often just in case someone was there?”
About the journal: This entire journal is made from handmade paper and all the negative pieces leftover from diecutting all those Christmas cards a few weeks ago. I was using A4 paper for all the diecutting and so I was left with all of that diecutting waste, so I decided I would use it for the background of my pages. On top of that I sprayed either Infusions, or Distress Oxide or a combination of both, so for a change the inside of my journal has a consistent look! I am also using some old paper that I found in a drawer, it’s a book of hmm I guess like a cardmaking kit, so there are lots of elements that you are supposed to assemble into cards. It cost me £3 years ago and I liked the wintry images, so I figured I would try and use it up in this journal and see how it went. I also typed out all the daily prompts and printed them out and glued them to each page.
Since this page is very wintry (perhaps non-traditional colours though) I am also sharing it with Jo’s theme of Snowy Winter over on Art Journal Journey (link below).
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!

Art Journal Journey – Snowy Winter
Now you know why I don’t have a cell phone OR am on instagram, facebook, tumblr, etc. I spend enough time on my blog as it is! I love that pop up. It is incredible and so well done with those die cuts. Looks like others like it, too. Thanks for yet another great entry for Jo’s theme at Art Journal Journey. You have rocked Care December and AJJ this month!
I must remember that about the front door. So true. Not that I am always checking my phone or anything but I have friends with the watches that tell them each time a notification comes through. So annoying when in a conversation and their head keeps bobbing up and down to the watch. Thank goodness I am not able to wear one, I will never be part of that clan.
Happy New Year
Hugs, Neet xx
Wow, I’m in awe of all the pages that you created using the negative space of the die cuts from your Christmas cards! Your designs are stunning and I love the colours that you used, this one looks like the Northern Lights ?. The way you added the deer and trees is so beautiful too! Thanks so much for joining me at AJJ with all your fabulous Snowy Winter pages dear Elle! I hope your kitty cats are feeling better too. Take care and enjoy the rest of your week! Hugs Jo x
What a beautiful artistic journal page.
Happy New Year, hugs Elke
I love the background colors and the white pop up scene in the middle. It’s a really interesting way to get more space out a spread, and it also looks great. And the white is always eye-catching too. Thanks for joining us at AJJ again for Jo’s challenge. This month is flying and will be over soon, too soon. Holy cow. Hugs-Erika
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Elle it is a wonderful page. You are so talented. Wishing you a happy Christmas.
