Happy Monday Friends!
This is also known as Blue Monday and is the day that is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year and a time when you are most likely to book a holiday to escape the winter weather. You can read more about it here if you’re interested. I don’t know about depressing but we are in another cold snap with a low of -2C again today so a winter sun holiday does sound rather appealing right now lol. To banish any blues I have a bright, happy blossom page for Day 8 Blossom.
Today’s Art . . .
Today’s art is actually two junk journal pages for #JunkJournalJanuary and one of them also includes one of my favourite photos so I am linking it to AJJ also, where the theme is to use a photo.
Day 8 Blossom
For this page I am using some card that I was sent in error and didn’t have to return but I actually don’t like it and after years in a drawer, I pulled some out and cut it into petals for this page, and I actually don’t mind it cut into pieces lol. The base for the page is an apple pie box covered in book paper and painted with neocolours.
Day 13 Hobbies (and photo)
The prompt for Day 13 is Hobbies and since I read 105 books last year and I’m on my 7th book this year so far, reading is the focus of my hobbies page! Are you surprised? Nah, didn’t think so!
This entire journal is made from Christmas food packaging and boxes that I saved from going into the bin, like this box of mince pies – you can see the mince pies in the bottom right corner of the page.
I liked the little gold and silver stars on the side of the box, so I covered the rest of the box with the book paper and left them exposed. Then I painted the book paper with neocolours and added some gold and silver splatters to it to mimic the ones on the box. I used some scrapbook paper to make a stack of books and added the words TIME TO READ along the bottom. The photo in the middle is one of my favourites and represents almost exactly how I like to relax when I’m reading haha.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!

I think you did a fabulous job with the pink flower. That will teach you to never throw anything out, even if you have to repurpose it. Thanks, also, for sharing this with us at AJJ using Mia’s theme. And of course, I absolutely adore your recycling efforts, Elle.
That flower you made from the odl card is amazing. That pink is perfect for today since it’s another grey day. There’s been way too many. And oh I love that lady image on your reading page. Throw me in sweat pants instead of that black dress and that’s me. Smile. Thanks for linking up to Mia’s challenge at AJJ. And happy new week. hugs-Erika
It always time to read.
