I was thinking about what post to share for Second on the Second and I decided on this one because I actually came across this bag in a box at the weekend – I had completely forgotten all about it. I used to do quite a lot of sewing and especially handbags, because I really enjoyed working out how to create the patterns and creating a 3D piece. This one is not one of my patterns but a pattern that came from a monthly club but it still gave me some challenges working out how to construct the ears and of course using faux leather and faux fur is always a challenge!

Today I finished my first Polaris Bag for the Bag of the Month Club. This is the March bag and I’m pleased to have finished it in March (even though I had to skip the February bag to do so) and also because it’s my birthday today so I got a new bag to celebrate!
So as you might know by now, the new bag pattern is released on the 1st of the month, so for the last two weeks I’ve been considering what I wanted to do with this pattern. There have been some wonderful examples of this bag posted in the Facebook group page, and I was also very tempted by some glitter vinyl. I did order the glitter vinyl but it hasn’t arrived yet so then at the weekend while I was mulling over what fabrics to use, it hit me that I should make a kitty bag because the oval shape reminded me of a kitty face!
So I give you the furry faced kitty Polaris bag
This post is still a WIP because it’s late and I need to go to bed, and I will tell you later how much fun it was to sew with the faux leather, faux fur and foam (not) but for now check out the rest of the photos below.
The ears have fur on one side and faux leather on the other side, with faux leather trim and strap.
There is a leopard print cotton lining and pocket inside. And of course, as per my previous post, you can join the bag of the month club here

Challenges
That is an amazing bag, and it was perfect that you finished it in time to use it on your birthday. You’ve even lined it. I used to sew a lot of bags too, and I really should get back to making a few. Hope you had a wonderful 2 Feb. hugs-Erika
This is a fantastic second look, Elle. You are right. It is definitely a first look for me. I love the kitty ears and the fur. You are one skilled and amazing seamstress. Thanks for bringing this beauty back to share as your second look on the 2nd. Form AND function. Just amazing.
