Hi Friends!
Hope you are having a good week. I’ve been trying to catch up Wanderlust 2023, and as I said in a previous post, first comes the watching, then comes the doing, so I am happy to say that I have caught up and will be able to watch AND do this Friday’s lesson over the weekend! Amazing!
Today’s Art . . .
Today’s art is one of the pages I made for Wanderlust. This is actually Kasia’s Wanderlust Book lesson from week one so as you can see, all mine are not in chronological order!
Week one was the in introduction to pastels via the Studio Basics class, followed by Kasia’s lesson which involved using your word of the year as the focal point. My word for this year is SIMPLIFY so I used it here on my page.
There are lots of different types of pastels used on this page including chalk pastels, oil pastels etc. Also pastels through a stencil, for which I chose this bright red pastel and a mandala stencil.
There’s a lot of collage under all that pastel, not that you can see a lot of it now of course. The black and white polka dot is holding its own though.
I am also linking this page to Erika’s theme over on Art Journal Journey this month as the page was made using an analogous colour palette – my colours being red, red-violet and violet.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading!

Art Journal Journey – Seeing Red
Sorry I am late visiting. I’ve had company since Friday and they are will be on their way back to California tonight (Monday).
You used a lot of different pastels. I don’t think I ever used a pastel with a stencil, so that was interesting to read.
this is such a pretty journal!
This is a joy Elle! I love this colour combination and there are some great splashes of red that are perfect for Erika’s AJJ theme! Thank You for sharing! Hugs, Chrisx
I like those red flowers. Thanks for adding them and linking them up to my challenge at AJJ. It is appreciated Elle. And I like oil pastels, but don’t know quite what to do with chalk ones. I like seeing your page and how you used them. Have a great end of the week. hugs-Erika
