Hi Friends!

As you know, I’ve been trying to catch up with Wanderlust 2023, and that means not only watching the classes so far (done) and doing the work (done) but then also taking and editing the photos and writing the posts (almost done!)  This is my last post for the catch-up classes and I am now up-to-date and I even managed to watch and start on the Week 7 class today, on the same day it was released!  Imagine that!  Can you believe it?

Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is one of the pages I made last week during my Wanderlust catch-up.  This is actually the page for Week 2 by teacher Melissa Fink.  This class involved using soft pastels in a more traditional way, but with some extra tips to help seal the pastels. I am mostly happy with my sky – I wanted to create a sunset with a lot of pink – but I’m less happy with my ground because I didn’t have any clear plan for the ground in my head, like I did for the sky, so I didn’t really know where I was heading with it.  If it had been done on pastel paper, I could have worked on it more, but on watercolour paper there is a limit to how much pastel it can hold.

Some of the birds are collaged on, and on a whim I added some sunflower washi tape to the bottom of my page before writing some lines from a poem in pencil.  If I angle the paper just so, you can read the pencil, but otherwise it is hidden.

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading!

I think the sky turned out great and I enjoyed seeing those collaged birds. An overall well created journal spread, Elle.
