Today’s Art . . .
Today’s art is another entire journal that I made for the Art Journal Advent challenge in December 2022 but like the Dephemerember challenge, did not get it finished in December or anywhere near it.

Because of Earth Day and recycling month, I decided to make an effort to get it finished finally since it’s full of recycled, and reused materials including the entire journal!

I have chosen three pages as my favourites for today’s art.  All the people images all came from the same free magazine from Boots (pharmacy) except for the Scottish page.  The journal is made from brown packing paper and most pages are painted with acrylic paint.  Each of the pages have some random paper scraps collaged on them.  I typed out each daily prompt and pasted them on each page (black with white text).  The above spread consists of two prompts – fearless and word for 2023 – mine is simplify.

The Scottish page for the home(land) prompt.  This page has some text and images from a shortbread box, some tartan papers and the Dinna fash woman came from an old local phone book.  Dinna fash means don’t worry or don’t fret.

This page is one of my favourites because of the grey painted background and Emma Watson’s image.  I extended her body across two pages and gave her some enthusiasm tattoos.  I also like the pink and yellow acrylic against the grey.

Just a couple more pages left for this month.  Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading.

I found this year’s (2022) Art Advent Calendar harder than 2021. I thought the prompts were easier in 2021. MY hardest page was castles in the sky. But some of the others stumped me, too. I was going to bind mine, but haven’t yet, so, although I have completed every page, they are not bound like yours. Because I didn’t have advantage to Instagram, I had no way of comparing what I had created and no way of getting ideas. I wish I had been able to see all of yours because there were some that stumped me. Having said that, I was delighted to see all the amazing entries you got from a single ad pamphlet. That was brilliant. Thanks for another entry for Art Journal Journey using Bleubeard’s and my theme.

I really like how you do themed journals. I do the same, and they are so interesting to look at. I also like how you recycled so much (perfect for AJJ), and using people in such smart ways too. Ending with the clock page is perfect for how you ended it. I did an advent/December journal, and I just need to finish my last page-Dec.31. It’s started, but not done. Now you’ve reminded me that I really need to do that-smile. Happy end of April Elle. I hope you’re having a beautiful day. hugs-Erka
