Happy June everyone!

Since it is the very first day of the month, I am excited to share my DT inspiration project for June at More Than Words with you.  Well what can I say about this month’s theme – but we all LOVE art supplies right, sometimes perhaps a little too much lol.  Yes I do love ART SUPPLIES. I always have, ever since my first Crayola crayon, and I could spend hours browsing in an art supplies shop (if there were any nearby that I could browse in!) but it’s probably just as well that there isn’t because let’s face it, I probably HAVE an art supplies shop in my spare room hahaha. Here’s my (first) page…

The challenge this month is as follows:

Oh art supplies how do I love thee!

This was a tricky challenge for me simply because I couldn’t decide what art supplies to use for it haha. In the end I chose my beloved Neocolour IIs to create a colourful swatch background around a drawing of a whimsical girl inspired by those in Jane Davenport’s drawing books, which you can see sticking out from under the finished page.  If you haven’t seen them before, I would encourage you to check them out if you like a whimsical style.  Jane herself is a huge lover of art supplies and often claims to have “rainbow-itis” and has to have “one in every colour”. So in honour of Jane, I used lots of colour and also one of her stickers which reads “there is no such thing as too many supplies”. This is such a fun challenge for playing with and experimenting with some of your own art supplies. I’m already itching to pull out more supplies and make more pages!

The problem I had when it came to creating this page was just what art supplies did I want to use!  How to narrow it down?  How to decide?  How could I fit it all on the same page?  The answer was of course, that I couldn’t and so I clearly will have to make more pages this month which is just fine by me.  Maybe I can browse my “shop” and find some old, forgotten art supplies or maybe test out some that perhaps I haven’t got around to using yet.  I’m taking “art supplies” to mean anything you use in your art journal, which could be fancy, expensive paints from an art shop, budget craft supplies from the £1 shop, anything I’ve saved to use in a junk journal, fabrics, teabags, books etc etc etc.  The possibilities are endless!

My companions while I was arting…

They were enjoying morning sun and the warm room.  Miss Lily snoozing on the left and Mr G trying not to fall asleep on the right.

I am also linking this page to this month’s theme of Numbers hosted by Matilde over on Art Journal Journey as my background contains many different stamped numbers – perhaps the perfect number of art supplies?  47? 137?  365?

Let me know what you think in the comments.  As always, thanks for reading!Ingredients
handmade journal, neocolour IIs, Polychromos pencils, Watercolour pencils, acrylic ink, Jane Davenport sticker and washi tape eyes, posca pens, gel pens, stazon ink, number stamps, fabric peace sign patches.

What a great new challenge Elle. I love how you and Matilde both took photos of your art with the supplies. When I get I will definitely be joining in. And I had to laugh because I could start an art supply store too. Ha ha. Hope all is well. Hugs Erika. And and thanks for joining us at AJJ for Matilde theme also. ?

I love your bright page Elle- I love the Jane Davenport style! As for the perfect number of art supplies – surely 365 × 10 – at least!! You’re not getting much help from Miss Lily and Mr G. Thanks for sharing at AJJ and Matilde’s new theme, hugs, Chrisx

A lovely bright journal page, I had far too many art supplies, and am obsessed with coloured pencils at the moment. Your cats look very comfortable.

You really DO have a ton of art supplies. And a riot of color, too. This turned out great and I like how you were able to incorporate it with Matilde’s theme at AJJ. Nicely done, dear.
