Happy Tuesday Friends!
First of all something I forgot to link to last week – for all my book-loving friends who have read this particular book – here’s some exciting news:
I’m so curious to see it brought to life on the screen. If you’ve read the book, what do you think of this first look at the TV show?
For the first time ever in this house I have a fridge in the kitchen! Funny story but I almost bought a new fridge last week as my fridge seemed to be leaking and wasn’t as cold as it should be. The fridge, washing machine and other things, lived in the utility room. After some investigation it turned out that it was the washing machine that was leaking, and not the fridge. The washing machine would have been my first choice for “leaking” appliances but the water wasn’t there all the time or even when it was being used, it seemed to be coming from the fridge and the fridge was icing up and then the water disappearing, which would account for the water on the floor. So I spent hours online looking at replacement fridges, then went to the shop so I could see them in person, only to be told that they don’t stock any of the appliances they have online because they only stock the ones that they are paid to have on display! Can you believe it? So then I had to start all over looking for replacement fridges in the shop. Then I went home to decide which one to order but just before I did, I thought I would see if I could move the fridge into the kitchen and find somewhere for it to live, and that’s when I discovered that the water was coming from the washing machine! So now the fridge is in the kitchen (I keep walking past it and going into the utility room to get something from the fridge lol) and the washing machine is fixed, and I haven’t bought any new appliances, though I was thinking about a dishwasher since washing dishes by hand really causes me some pain problems. For now though, I will save my money and keep washing by hand.
Today’s Art . . .
Today’s art is a page for AJJ’s June theme of NUMBERS hosted by Matilde over on Art Journal Journey.
The background is acrylic ink, then I added some bits and pieces that were lying around on my desk, especially all the Tea packets (a ticket to tea!) and the images are free digitals I downloaded last year for something else and had leftovers. For the numbers element some of the images have numbers already stamped on them, like the “12” in the photo below. Then I took one of Alison Bomber’s Paperartsy stamps and stamped the tiny “Fig.5” numbers, a different number for each image, and finally added some of the gold diecut numbers that I used in my last page – 1,2,3,5, and 6 to match the “Fig.” numbers..
There’s quite a bit of ink splatter across this page too as I was using it for something else and wanted to use it all up instead of it going to waste.
ICAD 2023
I was in two minds whether or not to do ICAD this year as I have been so behind with things and haven’t finished my 100 day project, but then I looked at the prompts and got to thinking, and found some smaller index cards in a box, and decided to start and see what happens. I’m not pushing myself to do daily prompts, this time I am using the weekly prompts for now and may or may not continue.
I was just going to work with the drawing prompt from week one but then I ended up combining the prompts from all three weeks – drawing, collage, typography – for this first week.
Here’s a closer look at each card.

Currently Reading . . .
I’m currently reading this book, which is book 2 in a trilogy, and is currently airing as a TV show on Apple TV under the name of SILO. I really enjoyed the first book, and I was a little worried about this one since it’s book two in the series but also a prequel and I was really invested in the people in book one, but I needn’t have worried. (no spoilers!) This is another self-published author and I always find it interesting when authors choose that option over traditional publishing. It does mean more control and the ability to get your books published a lot quicker, and I guess enough people talked about it that it caught the eye of someone at Apple and now it’s a TV show.
The much anticipated prequel to bestseller Wool that takes us back to the beginnings of the silo.
In a future less than fifty years away, the world is still as we know it. Time continues to tick by. The truth is that it is ticking away.
A powerful few know what lies ahead. They are preparing for it. They are trying to protect us.
They are setting us on a path from which we can never return.
A path that will lead to destruction; a path that will take us below ground.
The history of the silo is about to be written.
Our future is about to begin.

Currently Growing . . .
There are now tomatoes on the tomato plants! Red butter lettuces on the right hand side, and all the cat mint plants are on the ground awaiting planting. I’ve been watering the garden every day as we are in our second week of lovely sunny dry weather, tops in the low 20s (C) and no rain. I also found this guy under some empty bags in the garden. It’s called a leopard slug because of the markings. Apparently they eat other slugs, that sounds good to me, so I put him somewhere safer while I moved the bags.
Kitties . . .
Miss Lily being her helpful self on the art table! This room gets all the sun in the morning and she finds it most inconvenient to have this table covered in art supplies when clearly it’s meant for sunbathing.
T Stands For . . .
Alcohol-free wine in the garden listening to audiobooks.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading and Happy T Day!
Love seeing your little greenhouse.
I like your journal page, I have the Pukka elderberry tea.
Your index cards are lovely, such pretty faces!
Happy Belated Tea Day,
Kate
So fun to find out you don’t need a new fridge – Yay! Great green things growing too.
Love all the art. Your faces are fabulous – love the D one especially (you can feel her mood strongly). The journal page is really special with all the colors, techniques, and designs.
The book sounds interesting and Ms. Lily is adorable.
Happy T-day, Elle. Hugz
Great news you didn’t have to spend money on a new fridge! Always lovely to sit in the garden with a cold drink and a book, I haven’t read that book and we don’t have Apple TV, we’ve only recently had internet TV installed!!

Great post Elle… what could be better than kitties, slugs and AJJ. Happy T day! Hugs! deb
You fared better than I. I needed a new fridge and got a used one because the new ones couldn’t be delivered for over a week. Then squirrels got into my phone and internet line before I could visit you on the 2nd.
That’s a great journal spread. Just perfect for Matilde’s theme at AJJ, too.
I tried to follow the ICAD prompts the first year, but I don’t draw, so I found it too restrictive after awhile. Now I just do my thing. Since I was offline on Monday, I have to catch up next Monday. I absolutely love your beautiful faces. Just gorgeous.
Great veggies. You truly have a green thumb. Hope you get a huge crop this year.
Shame on you for taking Miss Lily’s spot (grin). She knows what she wants.
How to finish a perfect day! Drink alcohol free wine snuggled under a blanket listening to an audio book. Thanks for sharing your art, the current book you are reading, Miss Lily, your veggies, and your wine with us for T this Tuesday, dear Elle.
I haven’t read the book and we don’t get Apple TV. Love the tea and black cats by the numbers (especially the black cats). I like bending the challenge rules to what suits me. Awesome start on your ICADs. Your greenhouse looks splendid. You shouldn’t leave your art supplies where Miss Lily needs to sunbathe. ? Feet up and a glass of wine sounds like the perfect position. Happy T Day.
I love the photo of you in the garden with your audiobook and alcohol free wine. It sounds lovely. And I am also loving your page for Matilda’s challenge at AJJ. This black
Kitty clips are pretty fun too. Your greenhouse plants also look amazing!!! I hope you had a great T day and thanks for joining us at AJJ too. Hugs Erika
Good thing you could save money and not buy new appliances. We just got a new dishwasher since the old one that must have been in this kitchen for decades wasn’t doing a good job anymore. It was a special offer, so we took it – it’s so much less noisy than the old one.
I love your cat on the art table. Of course it’s her spot in the morning when the sun is warming that place! How could you even think otherwise?
I absolutely loved that book!
A TV-show? Oh, sad, it will take years till we get it and then it will be in German 🙁
Very well done as show.
Quite a story with the fridge! Last time in Perth Ingo woke me at night assuming someone had broken into our cabin and sleeps in one of the kid´s beds.
The old fridge was just very loud in intervals and it sounded really like snoring, LOL. I certainly had to film it!
I never hears of a fridge in a utility room. Interesting. Ours is too small (and at least 15 years old).
Yupp, I hate doing the dishes, too, hurts my back.
Very, very beautiful faces!
No more books, I have enough to read 😉
Miss Lily is so beautiful.
To reading outside, happy T-Day xx
How can you be so selfish to put your art things on your Kitty’s sunsbathing platform?! You seem to enjoy sunbathing, too. I sat on my balcony today, it was warm and sunny! Your ICADs are fabulous, love them, wonderful faces. Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
