Hi Friends and Happy Tuesday!
I am using my daily screen time allowance to write this post and then I must walk away and do something else not involving reading anything or looking at a screen of any size.
Today’s Art . . .
Today’s art is of course a page for my theme on Art Journal Journey for this month – Books, Cats and Tea, which are three of my very favourite things.
This page started with me doodling a lot of cat faces in my journal and then wondering what to do with it. As you can see there was the extra distraction of Miss Lily napping on my table.
It does look like I have a cramped work space but it’s not really because there’s a cat on it. I really need to clean up and then there would be room for two cats on there haha.
I spent far too long deciding what colours to paint these little faces and in the end went with greys and oranges. Miss Lily decided she needed more room to spread out and expanded her territory.
After taking so long to decide on the colours for the cat faces, I then took almost as long to decide what colour to paint the background, before finally deciding on cobalt teal.
Still not quite having enough room for napping comfortably, Miss Lily rolled nonchalantly on to my journal.
But just look at that little face, how adorable she is (and she knows it!) I let her sleep on the journal for a bit, before asking her politely to move over so I could paint it.
Eventually I got the background painted and splattered some leftover paint on it. I was just thinking that there was “no such thing as too many cats” so I wrote it on my page. There are 24 cat faces on the page, would that be too many or just enough? I would definitely need a bigger table! Can you imagine, 24 cats all trying to squeeze on to a sofa, or the bed, haha!
T Stands For . . .
Last week I showed you my coffee and a huge Strawberry Tart. This week I thought I would show you where that tart came from and what else there was to choose from in the GRO cafe I visited last week. Please note the bottles of alcohol on the top shelf, this is my ticket to tea this week. Also in this photo are a lot of cakes – they make everything themselves in the cafe. I don’t know what everything is, because they don’t put labels on anything, but there are carrot cakes on the left, gingerbreads on the right, strawberry tarts on the far right, Oreo chocolate cakes on the top, and cinnamon buns underneath them in this photo. The cakes and tarts along the bottom look delicious too but I don’t know what they are.
In this photo, a lot of unidentified cakes, but they all look delicious. The one I do know is on the far right, the iced biscuits with the cherry on top. These are called Empire Biscuits, very traditional and something we learned to bake in school, though personally I don’t like them.
More cakes with cream in them, I don’t like cream at all! And of course the giant strawberry tarts.
.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading and Happy Tea Day and Happy Journalling!

Wonderful page, Elle. Not sure how many cats it takes to get to ‘too many’ but I am thinking it would be a lot – lol. Your kitty is adorable and makes the page even cooler! Love the kitty faces – so sweet. Speaking of sweet, wow, what a cool bakery. I don’t know of any bakery around here that is even half as cool as that. Fun place. Happy late T-day. Hugz
Such cute cat heads. Love how your journal page came out.
Those tarts look amazing and I think I would pick the strawberry tart. I love anything with fruit but they do all look delicious!
Hope your eyes are improving,
Kate

Me anything CHOCOLATE with caramel… Who am i kidding i would eat it all…lol If you go there often you might mention to them about naming things.. it might help their business… And BLACK cats!! you KNOW i LOVE your kitties Elle.. your kitties that remind me so much of my Jinx… She really is beautiful! Happy T day! Hugs! deb
Really cute art today. Makes me smile. Ohhhh where the tart came from. Be still my heart. Everything looks so darn good. Have a nice day today.
Your cat faces are so much fun. I had to laugh at Miss Lily allowing you to work in her space. She looked very comfortable and indeed, has a very sweet face. Speaking of sweets! Oh, my eyes went so wide. Too many delicious things to choose from. Happy T Day
That bakery must have something wonderful for anyone’s taste! The strawberry tarts do look delicious. I’m surprised that I don’t see anything with lemon curd, though — that’s my favorite bakery flavor.
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
That is a fun journal page Elle. And a good idea! I hope if you ever get that many cats you have a good vacuum-ha ha. The photos of Miss Lilly are fun. I always have to laugh when cats (or dogs) sleep on their backs like that. I would think their back legs would get tired. And boy that bakery looks AMAZING! I want one of each right now. Ha ha. Maybe just something that would work with my breakfast shake-perhaps a carrot cake or strawberry tart because at least they have some type of veggie or fruit. I hope your eyes are improving, and that you’re having a fantastic T day. hugs-Erika
Cats are descended from Egyptian Deities and knw that they are beautiful and that we put up with them rolling around and generally being in the way, it#s a cat thing! Love all the faces you have made! Emjoy your T Day, and hope you don’t sample all of those cakes! Hugs, Valerie
Love your journal spread and love how Miss Lily seems to approve by napping on it. Too many cats? Never, at least in theory and in art, but in reality, any more than two cats to a household and you have to apply for a breeder’s license in my city. I bet lots of people in Wichita have more than two cats. Bleubeard and Squiggles approve your spread, too. It is definitely perfect for your theme at AJJ.
Wow. Talk about sugar overload. That looks like fudge in the first photo below the tarts. I would have a hard time deciding what I wanted from this store, so I’m glad you shared the bottles of alcohol with us for T this Tuesday, dear Elle.
