Hi Friends!

I hope everyone is having a good week.  After at least a week of lovely warm sunny weather, we seem to have returned to our usual miserable wet weather.  Never mind, it just means more time to concentrate on indoor pursuits such as hanging out with the cats, reading, drinking tea and of course, art!

Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is another page for my theme on Art Journal Journey for this month – Books, Cats and Tea, which are three of my very favourite things.

I painted with neocolour IIs.  I first drew the cat face on the right hand side – this time I didn’t want the kitty to be in the centre of the page, so I drew her off to the side with three quarters of her face showing. I went for a non-realistic cat colour today!

I painted her in a lovely teal colour, a little darker than what the camera is showing.  After that I wondered what to do with the background, so I ended up scribbling two colours of neocolours over the page and activating them with water to create this checkerboard pattern.

I wanted to use the purple cardboard from this food packaging box to cut out my letters for a quote as I really liked the colour.  First I had to find a quote that was short enough to 1. fit on the page and 2. that I would have enough of the purple cardboard to cut it from. I also had to find a die set that was the right size to do the job.  I used an old(er) Tim Holtz Sizzix set where the letters are 3/4 inch high, just the right size to cut all my letters (23 of them) and fit them onto the page.  I even have some purple cardboard leftover!

The kitty assistant was in attendance as usual.  She is getting the morning sun in the room, that might all change as we move into Autumn. This is the same photo I shared a few days ago, but it’s such a cute photo and and she is still there this morning, sleeping on my fabric (which is not supposed to be a cat bed!)

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling!

I can’t believe how far behind I am visiting you and your adorable cats. I adore this spread, Elle and I love the color of the cat. She is a beauty. I also like those letters you chose, too. Pink and purple go so well together. Thanks for this amazing entry using your theme at AJJ, dear.

I like the turquoise kitty on that pink background. Those are fun colors and make a fun page. And of course your kitty assistant was probably inspiring you a lot-smile. When I had a couple of cats one always wanted to sit on my lap while I worked-which was not very convenient. Smile. And you asked about my tea bags yesterday in your comment. Yes, they are for ice tea but I think that is more of a marketing item the way they labeled the bags because all tea can be infused into hot or cold water. But I thin they do infuse a little faster into cold water than regular tea would. And I have lots of frogs in my gardens too. You have to be careful not to step on them. Smile. I hope your week gets sunny again. hugs-Erika
