Hi Friends!
I hope everyone is having a good week. On the day that I wrote this post (Thursday) I actually thought it was Friday – man that was so disappointing when I realised it wasn’t! More cold and rainy weather regardless of what day it is! I was able to get three pages finished so now I just have to decide which order to share them in.
Today’s Art . . .
Today’s art is another page for my theme on Art Journal Journey for this month – Books, Cats and Tea, which are three of my very favourite things.
For this post I chose the teal page! You can see below how they looked originally before I painted them. The one on the right is the packaging for a cat grooming brush and the one on the left is a promotional postcard for the “Cat Supernanny”. I picked that one up in the waiting room at the vet’s ages ago. I painted over the text and the “supernanny” text, and painted over the dog on the pet grooming brush cardboard. I also “painted” the page using a teal Neocolour II and some water.
I did more painting on the cat on the right and then used washi tape to attach the cat on the left to the page. This postcard was the same front and back and I wanted to retain the Supernanny info for future reference. The other cat piece looked like a big tag to me so I made a little pocket from some paper covered in washi tape and tucked it inside. I also added a cute little cat sticker at the bottom of the left page since it also had a white cat on it and a teal background.
This gives me journalling space on both white cats and also the page behind the flap on the left. There are three different washi tapes used, the wide teal floral tape, and then two narrow teal and silver foil tapes, one of which says “follow your dreams” but you can’t actually read it in the photos because the silver foil is not showing up very well. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out considering it was made using “junk” that people would normally throw away. I kept them because they had cats on them (and I might need a supernanny one day lol) but had no plans to use them in a journal and I didn’t really notice how similar in colour they were until I saw them together. I do love a bit of teal!
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling!

Art Journal Journey – Books, Cats and Tea
I am in LOVE with your recycling efforts. You recycle better than me, pr at least you have better fodder than I have. Both pages are brilliant. I like the use of washi tape and I LOVE the cats. This is a super spread for your theme at AJJ, dear Elle.
Well, you would never believe this page started life as it did. How good is that.
I do hope you saved the wording for ‘cat supernanny’ as that would blow up and make a super page. Sorry if you have already done it.
Love it.
Hugs, Neet xx
very nice this Journal Page!!!
Happy Weekend, hug Elke
You are so good at making pockets and flip over pages Elle. And I love your teal color. I had to smile that you painted over that cute little pup, but I get it. Did I tell you I am really enjoying having 3 topics I can pick from during this challenge? Thanks for picking this theme. And I’ve been all off days this week too. Clouds and rain and cooler weather are here too-well rain not until tomorrow or tonight, but it was nice having a good nights sleep with the windows open. 🙂 hugs-Erika
Nice journal page Elle.
Happy Friday.
