Hi Friends!

Well it’s really too bad that our nice weather from yesterday completely disappeared overnight and now we seem to behaving the tail end of a hurricane.  We are all huddled up inside the house and the stove is on, but it’s good weather for indoor pursuits, so I have been arting today and got another page finished…

Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is another page for my theme on Art Journal Journey for this month – Books, Cats and Tea, which are three of my very favourite things.  We are getting closer to the end of the month – where has the time gone?  Here comes another cat page using cat food packaging…

This one turned out so cute!  I don’t usually draw cats in this way but maybe I will start lol.  Just look at their sweet little faces.

This page started off with these empty packets of dental treats for cats – they are supposed to help with keeping their teeth in good shape – who knows but the cats like them.  There is also another option from this brand for stressed out cats, with valerian and chamomile, to keep them from being too anxious during stressful times.  I might use that packet in another page once it’s empty as it’s a lovely violet colour.

One of these bags is older than the other and you can see differences in the design and also that on one they are called “dental treats” and on the other “dental care”.  Needless to say the “dental care” packet is the older style, they obviously had to change “care” to “treats” and not make false claims but I think everyone already knew that they were treats regardless of what it said on the packet lol.  I glued the cat treat bags down on the page and then attempted to mix a colour that was close enough to the colour of the treat bags and cover the rest of the page with that.  As you can see, Miss Lily is back in her usual spot though she is not showing us her best side.  You can also see the Jungle Cats page in the photo as I was working on both pages at the same time.

I used a darker colour to paint over the dental treats/care words but decided to keep the “gnashers” text on display.  To fill in the rest of the page I thought I would try drawing three large cats based on the style of the cats on the packets.

Miss Lily rolled over and was in some danger of ending up with a lovely turquoise tail!

It’s lovely to see her feeling better and in her happy place.  🙂  We managed to avoid the paint and she is still her 100% black self.

I used a white pen to write in the dark teal what this page is all about – it’s all about the treats of course!

I edged the page with some dark ink and then framed it by drawing a simple black line around the page. All done.

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling!

I have no idea how I missed these. I was sure I had read everything you had created, but that is obviously not the case. I love how you recycle everything and find a way to make it work for you. Glad to read that Miss Lily is feelimg much better and still all black (grin).

I like how you used the packaging and then altered it and added your own spin Elle. And the colors are great too. Those kitties are quite cute for certain. The big kitties you drew have distinct personalities also. And they must like the treats as they are happy kitties. 🙂 I hope it warms up for you. We have clouds and rain so I’m hoping I can have some arty time today too. hugs-Erika
