Hi Friends!

Happy Sunday!  Miss Lily is much better, our weather is getting colder (4C this morning!) so we have the stove on and both the kittens are spread out in front of it.  It’s nice to see them so relaxed and happy in the warmth.  It is also a local holiday here so we have a nice long four day weekend!

Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is another page for my theme on Art Journal Journey for this month – Books, Cats and Tea, which are three of my very favourite things.  Here comes a cat page…

During the summer I collected a few of these scratch cards purely because I loved the fact that they had black panthers on them!  Winning £100,000 would have been a nice bonus but sadly it was not to be.  I did win about £60 though which is unusual, they seemed to have a higher chance of winning a prize that some others.  Anyway, I saved the tickets and thought I would use them for my cats, books and tea theme somehow – how exactly I didn’t know – until yesterday when “jungle cats” just popped into my head and I could just imagine all of these cats peering out from jungle leaves.

I used Paperartsy chalk paints in a few different greens to paint my jungle leaves on a sheet of watercolour paper.  I didn’t have the colours I wanted but they mix well together so I was able to achieve the greens I wanted for my jungle.

After the painting was dry, I placed the panthers where I wanted them to be and then cut holes for them to peek through.  To finish off the page I used some leftover gold outline letters that I had die cut a few months ago for another page.  I had all the letters I needed already cut except for the J and the L so I quickly cut them out and finished the page.  In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight but the panthers are wide awake and peckish!

Here’s a photo of Miss P snuggled up in her bed tonight.  The room she sleeps in is quite cold, but her bed is very warm.

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling!

I’ve never tried to win anythung because I never play the lottery. However, these are amazing cats and I admire your recycling efforts. I adore how the cats are peeking out from behind the leaves. Just a super entry for your theme at AJJ, dear. Sorry I missed this one, too!!

I am glad I am no the only one who never wins anything…not that I usually buy tickets but in my family my aunt used to get them for everyone at Christmas and at birthdays and we keep the tradition going. I am quite impressed you won that sum, congrats. And that was brilliant to keep the tickets for your challenge. What a fantastic page. Those panthers really pop out at you, and I wonder if that’s what it would be like in the jungle. We haven’t gotten quite so cold yet here, but it’s coming. Stay warm. Happy holiday weekend to you. hugs-Erika
