Hi Friends!
It’s a wild, wet and windy Wednesday today! I was out in it this morning and have a photo of the beach to show you… but from inside a building because no way was I going outside in that! Now normally there is a great big island complete with mountains (Arran) visible from here, but as you can see (or not) there’s no sign of it – it’s completely hidden in rain and clouds.
Here’s the same view when it’s not raining like this.
Today’s Art . . .
Today’s art is a journal page Neet’s theme this month on Art Journal Journey – In Gear. This one has plenty of Steampunk gear style!
This journal page started off as a 12 x 12 page that I made in 2020. I have a lot of artwork stored in boxes and last month I decided to pull some out and reuse/repurpose them. At least if they live in my journal I will see them more often and they will be more accessible. Miss Lily agreed. Here she is below regarding the “old” 12 inch piece before I cut it up. (She’s feeling a lot better today btw!)
If you want to see how I made the original here’s a link to the page. There’s a lot of recycling going on, as I used an old box to cut all the gears and wheels and bits and pieces using a Sizzix Tim Holtz Bigz die. This is the original page below before I chopped it up.
To fit it in my journal I cut off the left side panel with the three inventors on it and the Inventor’s Club top piece. Then I painted my journal page in autumnal colours and stamped some leaves around the sides.
I glued the Inventor’s Club top piece from the original on to the right side of my new journal page. I repainted all the bits and pieces to change them from the original silver to bronze. I added some Tim Holtz word stickers. I made the side panel into a tag for Valerie’s The Colours of Autumn challenge over on Tag Tuesday. I used the leftover bits (gears, cogs, part of the clock etc) that were cut from the original page on my tag.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling!

Tag Tuesday – The colours of Autumn
Love all this lovelyness, (specialy the steampunk can never find that anywhere near me)…in your blog, still having trouble loading pictures on mine, so my mojo is well down beneath the compost pile at the moment. But you have some great pieces of yummy crafty art, and I’m loving it. Not sure if I can comment…most likely not! never mind, I will try again!

Absolutely amazing projects. Your tag is just gorgeous and wow your little cat is so beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing with us at Tag Tuesday.

What a wonderful idea- your page looks great and you got a tag too! Hugs, Chrisx
Really clever recycling. I like how you turned it into something new and different. It makes a great entry for Neet’s theme at AJJ.
Creative layouts and beautifully made design.
What a fabulous use of an old piece of artwork. You have totally transformed it and now you have a page for your journal and a tag.
I love the various pipes and gears you have shown us, are they die cuts? How useful are they for steampunk journal pages. The colours are magnificent, you have captiured it just right with this piece.
Hugs, Neet xx
I like what you did repurposing your page. You even got a cool tag out of the old page also. Those are really fun gears too. Isn’t steampunk fun to play with? And it’s good to know that Miss Lily is feeling better. I like that photo. She looks very interested in what you are doing. And wow, you really can’t see very far on your day’s beach photo. Isn’t it amazing how weather can change the look of everything, never mind you have to deal with it. It does look pretty when the weather is good. Thanks for linking up your page for Neet’s challenge. And have a great rest of your week. hugs-Erika
Hi Elle, glad your kitty is feeling better. You weather looks abysmal. Here it was quite good today but I felt bad all day! I love your journal page very much, so stylish. And of course, the tag is lovely, too. Great idea to use up the leftovers, too! Thanks so much for linking to AJJ and Tag Tuesday, much appreciated. So now I’m going to have an early night and hope I feel better tomorrow! Have a great evening! Hugs, Valerie
