Hi Friends!

Well after yesterday, it’s a little calmer weather-wise but more stormy weather is forecast, so I’m getting my internet stuff done early just in case.

Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is a journal page Neet’s theme this month on Art Journal Journey – In Gear. This one has plenty of Steampunk gear style just like yesterday’s page!

This journal page started off as a card that I made in 2020 for a coffee lover’s challenge. If you are interested in seeing the process read that post.   As I mentioned in a previous post, I have a lot of artwork stored in boxes and last month I decided to pull some out and reuse/repurpose them.  At least if they live in my journal I will see them more often and they will be more accessible.  So I turned this card into a journal page.  I’ve always loved this one but I have no display space in my house so I never got to see it in a box.  You might think I will never get to see it inside a journal either but at least I do flick through them and they are right in front of me on shelves above my table.

I covered my journal page in Distress Inks to match the colours of the card, then I opened up the card and glued it down to my page, so that the back of the card is on the left and the front of the card is on the right side.  Then I wrote the Steampunk Coffee Machine text on the left and added some splattery paint.

All the cogs and gears and taps etc were all cut from recycled box cardboard at the time.  The coffee labels all came from packets of ground coffee and if you look at the top of the machine, just under the wheel, you will see the little valve from the coffee packet, that allows you to smell the coffee before you buy it.  All the wheels turn as does the hands on the clock at the bottom. Choose your coffee by turning the tap on the left for medium-strong roast or to the right for the milder roast option.

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling!

The weather/climate has turned my body into painful chaos. Just wanted you to know I stopped by and admired your entry. So grateful you shared it with us at AJJ, too.

What a fun idea. I love the steampunk coffee machine. It’s full of gears and other fun die cuts. Are those keys die cuts? They don’t look it. And some of those splatters look like coffee drips too. This is perfect for Neet’s challenge. Thanks for joining in at AJJ Elle. And I hope your power stays on too so you don’t have to sit in the dark. (not fun) hugs-Erika
