Hi Friends!

TGIF!  I’m so glad that it’s finally Friday and I can have a rest!  Well I can have a rest tonight and tomorrow but I do have a family thing to do on Sunday.  Weather is misbehaving again, storm Babette is battering the country, but mostly on the Eastern and Northern parts of Scotland.  We are on the West coast but the winds today were still 50mph.  I had a walk on the beach after yoga, it looks very calm in the photo – it wasn’t really!  If you look really closely you might see that there are loads of birds right on the edge of the water, gulls mainly, but a couple of big white swans to the left.  On the far right, the edge of the Isle of Arran (55 mins away on the ferry) and to the left of that, in the far distance, you might be able to see Ailsa Craig sticking up out of the water.  It’s a bird sanctuary, a small island that looks a bit like a rounded hill sticking up out of the sea.

Even without the 50mph winds it’s been pretty cold, and so I let Miss P sleep in the back room on the couch instead of her unheated sunroom.  In case you don’t know, she was a feral farm cat and really does not like other cats, or people – she tolerates me because she knows what side her bread is buttered on, but she still bites me from time to time if I do something she doesn’t like!  Here she is sleeping on the sofa this morning… like butter wouldn’t melt!  She has to be kept separate from Miss Lily and Mr G because frankly I think she would murder them!  Good job we have couches in two rooms, although the sunroom will be better insulated soon and maybe it will be warm enough for her to sleep in it in the winter – although she does like that couch!  She’s blinking in the photo as the flash came on – it was so dark at 8am this morning – she’s probably thinking “those damned paparazzi, can’t get peace to sleep in this hotel

Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is a journal page Neet’s theme this month on Art Journal Journey – In Gear.  This one was inspired by a leaflet I found for a t-shirt brand, I think I saved it from a Comic-Con or something a few years ago.  It’s a bit creased so I wanted to put it in a journal before it got any worse.

I found some purple Halloween tissue paper in a drawer, and behind the giant coffee, there are some Halloween stickers I picked up at The Range last week.  By the way, that “cup” is actually the blender cup for my stick blender (immersion blender).  It holds a LOT of coffee which is my case is decaf, and I’ve been using it lately as it saves me making refills too often.

Naturally Miss Lily is present and narrowly missed getting Matte Medium all over her paws as she was just about to walk all over that tissue paper which I’d covered in it.

Also using these little leftover negative bits from all the gears and cogs I die cut last week.  I just cut around them to make them into circles but they still have teeth so I thought I would use them up.

Here they are stuck around the edges of the pumpkin sticker and yes I’ve given the game away because you can see Goth Girl dressed up for Halloween is also on the page.

Because the t-shirt leaflet has other cool images on the other side, I didn’t want to glue it down so I attached it to the page using this black cat washi tape that was on the parcel my friend sent me recently.

So then when you open it up…

Goth Girl is there in her best Halloween “gear” complete with witches hat.  She’s doing her “juggling with potions” party piece and hoping for some treats.  The potion bottles, candles and little grey bats are all from the same stamp set.  I added some Halloween ribbons behind her, and you can just see images of some of the other t-shirts from the back of the leaflet on the left.

Just before I go, has anyone seen the show Only Murders in the Building?  It stars Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez.  Steve Martin is 78 and Martin Short is 73 and they have a new show out, pretty cool huh?  It’s gets a solid 8.1/10 on IMDB.   It’s about these people who live in a huge, exclusive apartment building in NYC. There’s a murder in the building and they decide to do a bit of sleuthing and start a podcast about it, which they call Only Murders in the Building.  Needless to say there’s a murder in the building in each season, plus special guests like Sting, Shirley Maclaine, Meryl Streep, Nathan Lane etc. Anyway, I just watched season three and it featured a musical as part of the plot, with a song called Creatures of the Night, and I have it stuck in my head now. It’s a terrible musical but it’s still stuck there lol.  I’ll just leave you with this…

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling!

Another great page for my theme at Art Journal Journey Elle. I love that figure of Wednesday, or should I say Goth Girl. Perfect for this month and Halloween.
That is so clever of you to use the cut out bits from previous cut out gears and turn them into gears themselves. Genius! They look so good amongst the pumpkins. And what fabulous pumpkins they are.
Looks as if you live in a beautiful place Elle, such lovely walks and views across the water.
Oh dear, so sorry Miss P is antisocial but good for you taking her in and giving her a good home.
Thanks for another great journal page for my theme at AJJ.
Hugs, Neet xx

Our beaches here are just too cold to take a walk on. Most locals just don’t go to the beach. Love your Halloween art. Very cool.

I had a cat as a kid who wasn’t feral but certainly acted like Miss P. He could be downright mean and didn’t like other cats at all.Luckily he was all we had for a pet at that time. And we have wet weather too this weekend, but the winds aren’t due until later on Sunday. As long as it’s not raining I love a good beach walk. The view you shared is so pretty, and is that the Arran Island where the sweaters get their name from? I like your Halloween in gear page. Thanks for linking it to AJJ. That batty background is such fun, and of course your goth girl in a witch hat makes the perfect witch. And I LOVE Only Murders in the Building. I’m glad they are making a 4th season. It has so many unexpected twists along the way. OK, enough said. Stay warm and enjoy the rest of your weekend. hugs-Erika
