Hi Friends!

Happy new week!  This month I am participating in Folktale Week which is a one week challenge that takes place mainly on instagram and other social media.  I’ve been waiting for months to find out what the prompts were and then last week almost forgot all about it, due to being busy and not having time to be on social media much.  The instagram link is here or you can read a bit more about it on this blog though the post is two years old.  I guess because most of it if not all, happens on social media now.

Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is my first page for #FolktaleWeek and since it is nature based it is also a journal page for Jo’s theme this month on Art Journal Journey – Nature. My nature elements are a tree and this little kitty.  The left side was going to be left blank but then I ended up extending the tree and painting the background. So my plan is to use that side for journalling or for writing my story – my folktale.  It reminds me a little of my Fairytales, Folklore and Fables AJJ theme last October.

As I said, I nearly forgot about it being this week, so last night I started sketching out a quick page for the prompt list while I was on the sofa watching Star Trek Voyager on Netflix.   I was actually expecting an official prompt image to be posted which is one reason why mine was delayed, but it seems that everyone just makes their own. Last night’s sketch on the left, and today’s finished page on the right.

Some close ups…

I really don’t know where the inspiration came from for this page.  I was not thinking about putting a cat on it at all.  I started by writing all the text first and then decided that I wanted a tree, and then some kind of border for the words which then turned into a cat tail, and that was that!  I also managed to sketch out nearly all seven prompts in this small journal and yes, they now all have cats on them!

We had two days of -1C overnight and the temperatures not getting much above 5 or 6C, but today is warmer with rain but strangely feels colder.  Consequently the stove is on and this is happening again.
On my way home today some Autumn colour caught my eye so I pulled over and took a photo.  It did look better from the car I’m sure but there is still some colour there.
Autumn trees are clearly on my mind and influenced my page – my tree has only a few leaves left on it.

That’s it for today, I have finished the Day 1/13th November page for the LOST prompt but it’s too dark to take photos so it will be shared with tomorrow’s page.

Let me know what you think in the comments.   As always, thanks for reading and Happy Journalling!

That sounds like a fun challenge Elle. And I like your tree, and of course the cat. I’m curious to see your folk tales. And it’s been cold here. In fact it’s snowing tonight, but I don’t think it will accumulate. That stove makes it look nice and toasty. Thanks for sharing this page for Jo’s challenge at AJJ. Happy new week to you. hugs-Erika
