Hi friends!

Happy Tuesday!  I woke on Sunday morning feeling like I was getting a cold, it’s been so long since I had one, it was quite a surprise and not a good one. It’s now Tuesday and it’s official, I do have a cold and I’m lacking in energy.  Hopefully it won’t come to anything, it’s not the best time to get sick.  🙁  Needless to say I am starting to lag behind with all the things I have to get done this week (a few days behind with these prompts, still working on Christmas cards, etc) and a cubic metre of hardwood is about to arrive at the front door this morning and I will have to unload and bag it up so I can get it through the house and into storage.  Really don’t have the energy for that but it has to be done!  Last time I did this it was raining and I got soaked, so far it’s not raining so fingers crossed it stays dry!

As mentioned previously, this month I am joining these daily art journalling challenges (because clearly I am insane):
1.  Dephemerember (an ephemera junk journal challenge in December).  It’s hosted by two lovely people in Austria – Barbara from 49 Dragonflies and Luise Heinzl, and you can find the challenge on Instagram and Youtube (ephemera creating videos 4x a week).
2. Care December run by the Wanderlust people on Teachable, here’s a link to sign up for free and you will have lifetime access to the lessons.  It starts on December 8th.
3. Art Journal Advent which is an Instagram challenge but the prompts are usually on her website too if you want to join in and you can get them by email also (that’s what I’m doing).
Feel free to join in the fun!  My plan just now is to try and combine the prompts into one page per day instead of three separate pages. I will be trying to post daily on Instagram but I won’t be posting daily on the blog.  Let’s see how that goes!

Today’s Art . . .

Today’s art is Days 6, 7, 8,9, 10 for Dephemerember, Art Journal Advent and Care December (from 8th+) coming up below.  My journal is made of a concertinaed piece of packaging paper rescued from a box.

December Day 6 page:  Dephemerember prompt: selfie in a bubble  ¦  Art Journal Advent prompt: think outside the box

Background: Paperartsy Infusions, photo of Lily, cat food packaging, twine, ephemera.  I don’t do selfies but Miss Lily loves them.  Also she wanted to think outside the box so we used a cat shaped “bubble” instead.  I made it into a shaker card which you can see in action below.

December Day 7 page:  Dephemerember prompt: clocks and wings  ¦  Art Journal Advent prompt: boldness

Background: my clock printable, corrugated card, napkin butterflies, twine, tartan paper, ground espresso ink, letter stickers.

December Day 8 page:  Dephemerember prompt:
no prompt  ¦  Art Journal Advent prompt: transparency and the first day of Care December:  set the intention.  Now things get really real as I have three prompts to combine in each page. The above photo shows the transparency piece opened and closed in the photo below.  *The cocktails on this page are my first tickets to tea*

Background:  this page uses a variety of papers, tea bag sachets etc and for the transparency element I used a piece of packaging to which I added some colourful cocktails/mocktails and made it a fold out.  I cut two of each to make it double sided. My intention is more art time.

December Day 9 page:  Dephemerember prompt: no prompt  ¦  Art Journal Advent prompt: see the good Care December:  blue thread

Background:  this page uses a piece of wallpaper as the background,  some metallic blue, light blue and green thread.  There is a technique included for the Care December “blue thread” prompt but I didn’t use it.

December Day 10 page:  Dephemerember prompt: no prompt  ¦  Art Journal Advent prompt: spotlight on Care December:  grateful

Background:  this page uses a Starbucks hot chocolate ad from a magazine, acrylic paint, tissue paper letters, words from magazine. *The hot chocolate on this page is my second ticket to tea*

T Stands For . . .

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I got a new fridge freezer and a dishwasher.  The fridge has a wine rack inside it, mine does not contain wine!  It’s stocked up with Innocent Smoothies in various flavours.  The only reason there are so many in there is because they are half price at the moment in Sainsburys.  I refuse to buy them at full price because the full price of £3.50 is ridiculous for 750ml of juice and pulp, but £1.75 is a bit more reasonable. So I splurged and if they are still on special this week I will probably get some more – good to get more Vitamin C at this time of year.  *My row of smoothies is my third ticket to tea*

Let me know what you think in the comments.  As always, thanks for reading and Happy Tea Day!Ingredients

So sorry to read about your cold! I hope you got your wood in without too much hassle! Your journal pages are amazing, I don’t know how you are managing it but it makes me tired just thinking about combining those challenges! I shouldn’t really drink so many smoothies but if I’d known about the offer I would have been tempted Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx

I’m sorry that you got a cold and thus lack a lot of energy. I deeply dislike when that happens. I hope that you will feel better very soon.
Your journal pages look beautiful – but I didn’t expect anything less! That row of smoothies made me smile, so colorful! Enjoy them! Happy late T day!

I am so glad you are doing the Advent calendar because it gives me an idea or clue about what you and maybe others are thinking. I’m impressed you are doing all three again this year. You DO love a challenge!! And of course, your art is incredibly beautiful and emotional.

Speaking of challenge, I was certainly impressed you had so many drink references this week. My favorite is the transparency with the wines/cocktails. Thanks for sharing these three challenges and your various drinks with us for T this Tuesday, dear Elle. I wish I lived closer so I could help you get your wood inside.

Hi Elle, sometimes being insane with art is a good thing and it certainly shows here today. I love the first one so much. Be Bold. Yes!!!! I’m sorry you are not feeling well and hope you get over it quickly. Sending healing energy to you.

I’ve never heard of a wine rack in a fridge. Cool! I hope your cold is a short-lived thing and that you have a speedy recovery. Happy T Tuesday!

Elle i so enjoyed this post! Your ArtJournal is just fantastic! i have an ArtJournal in progress but i’m just not very prolific.. Too many projects going on at once… Totally understand buying things on sale.. thats the time to stock up .. we do that with the soda we like to drink.. i can’t believe we pay $8 for a 12 pk and before the pandemic i refused to pay more than $5 for a 12 pk.. Crazy times.. Happy T day! Hugs! deb

I thought I was coming down with a cold, and at least so far I’ve been able to keep it under control. It is surprising to get one, isn’t it? I hope you feel better soon. And those are great pages you made too. That clear flip with the drinks is cool. Is it a piece of acetate? We have the same wine rack in our fridge and I think there is ketchup in mine-grin. Have a super T day Elle (what is left to it), and I hope that moving the wood isn’t too exhausting, especially with the cold.hugs
