Hi Friends!
Hope your week is going well. As I mentioned earlier in the week, I am somewhat incapacitated…
This photo makes it look like I only have one leg but that is actually my left leg propped up on the stool and my right leg is off camera. Unexpected injuries are a total pain. It’s quite the effort to look after three cats, feed them, clean litter boxes, clean out the stove, get the wood, light the stove, get up and down stairs to the toilet (on time!) eat standing up in the kitchen rather than attempt to carry dishes to the dining room etc – not great for someone on crutches let me tell you! Miss P is “helping” by showing how cute she is!
It has slowed me down considerably and it has caused me to reconsider my plans for the #100dayproject which starts on Sunday 18th February! For the last three years I have focused on making ATCs and I quite enjoyed that (small, quick, easy to do daily) and was thinking about doing that again. Also I had this great idea to give away 100 crafty things that I have never used but am hoarding in the craft room. But now I won’t be able to get that done hobbling around on crutches so I will have to rethink it and come up with something that I can do easily from the sofa as I can’t sit at my art table either. So I am going to do it, I just don’t know what it looks like yet, but it won’t be 100 giveaways and ATCs 🙁
Today’s Art . . .
Today’s art is my February calendar page that I am finally getting around to showing halfway through the month!
I am still working in the same A4 bullet journal that I never used (successfully) as a bullet journal and just painting over the old pages. This is obviously a Year of the Dragon page though my dragon is more of a Cat-Dragon – on purpose I might add! I was curious as to what that might look like, and you know, any excuse to put a cat on it lol.
I’m linking to Vicki’s Keeping it Light theme over on Art Journal Journey because the Cat-Dragon has green feathery wings so he can soar above the mountains (where he keeps his treasure) and also because he is sitting in the moonlight perhaps contemplating his life or when the other Cat-Dragons will arrive.
It really doesn’t seem like a year since I did this page for the Year of the Rabbit, where did that last 12 months go? I still remember quite clearly putting this page together, and there have been many pages since. Maybe this one just stuck in my mind because of the rabbits and how much fun it was to do.
Oh and before I forget, here’s a crochet blanket update. I am now at 67 squares though this week hasn’t been a great crochet week. Although I am stuck on the couch, which would be ideal for crocheting little granny squares, there is a lot of pain to deal with and I’m just not in the mood. This yarn is beautiful to work with though so I’m so glad I went with this one over some of the other options. It makes me want to make more things with it later on.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading and happy journalling!
Ingredients
my old A4 bullet journal recycled as calendar journal, pitt pens, gel pens, fineliners etc

Art Journal Journey – Keeping it Light
Am slowly weaving my way through posts to find out what yu did to your leg/knee. Must be hard on your own with the cats, just be careful you don’t trip over one of them.
Love the various art pieces you are sharing.
Hugs, Neet xx
I love your Dragon in the moonlight. I too, am loving The Seek, Gather, Create prompts and thought your winged cat was brilliant. I hope your leg gets better soon, I can’t imagine how you are coping with the kitties and all that entails. Thanks so much for your entries at AJJ, hugs, Chrisx
Those granny squares are beautiful Elle, and I love your cat-dragon calendar. Great to re-visit those rabbits too.
I’m glad to hear that you’re still planning to do the 100 day project. I’m dithering about what to do, and if to do it. Something with collage maybe.
I hope the pain eases soon.
Alison xx
Oh a dragon kitty. How fun is that? It’s fun to see your 2 calendars together, and to see how they differ. Differ beyond being year of the rabbit and being year of the dragon. Sorry to read about your leg too. It must be tough getting around and functioning. How long do you think you’ll have to keep it up? And your granny squares look great. I love the color combo. I’ve gotten a bit away from knitting since I was working on making a photo book at night, but I have done some. I hope you have a great weekend, and thanks for joining Vicki’s AJJ challenge. hugs-Erika
I’m so happy to read that you are at least able to create some art while you’re down and recovering. Sending healing hugs your way! Really love that bullet journal with your “cat dragon” so much! He’s a perfect candidate for feather wings! You have to get around to protect those treasures! 😉 Love your work with the blanket and that will be a nice thing to have while you’re recovering too! Thanks so much for sharing your inspiration for my “light” theme at AJJ!
Ohhhh Elle, I’m so sorry you are laid up and in pain. I do know what tha tis like. However, your calandars and your crocheting is so beautiful and colorful. I invite you to link up with me on FFO I love your cat dragon. Sending healing energy to you my friend.
