Hi Friends!
Hope your week is going well. Mine is so so due to the knee and the lack of mobility. My BIL did take me food shopping during the week, and pushed me around the supermarket in one of their complimentary wheelchairs while I steered the trolley in front of me – with limited success because the wheels on one were not communicating with the wheels on the other so it got really interesting going round corners! At one point I was waiting for my BIL to come back from another aisle and I was just looking up at the contents of the cat food aisle and this woman came up and asked me if I needed to get something down from the top shelf. I guess because she saw I was in a wheelchair… people can be kind sometimes, but I wasn’t looking at anything in particular, just waiting. Anyway, managed to stock up on some food so that should do me for a bit. We do have online shopping options here and I have used them before but I mostly needed a lot of fruit and veg and I really don’t like other people choosing those for me – they never choose what I would choose myself. I introduced my BIL to the smart scan self scanner since he hadn’t used it before so that was fun and a lot quicker as you scan the items and put them in your bags as you go round and then it’s super fast at the checkout and hardly ever a queue.
Poor Miss Lily is asking when we might be getting back to doing the artsys on the art table as she’s not so into the artsys on the sofa (no place for her to sit and watch I suspect, and definitely none of her favourite wet media on the couch!) You can see her little paws in the photo below too as I used her blanket as the background for my photo – or I should say, she’s using my expensive fabric as a blanket!
Today’s Art . . .
Today’s art is a page for Week 3 of the #seekgathercreate challenge over on Instagram. This is a scavenger hunt type challenge, where you are given a list of items which you have to use on your project. This week’s items were 1. colour orange 2. a crow 3. something frayed 4. something burnt. I have a few orange things on there, plus some frayed fabric and burnt paper, and the “crow” is actually an American blackbird stamp that I altered to look more like a crow. Apparently American blackbirds look completely different to the blackbirds we have here, who knew, but they are a very different bird; ours are quite round little birds with yellow beaks. Everything on this page was lying around in a pile leftover from pre-Christmas arting or came out of the recycling bin, so I just stuck it all down on the page and stamped over the top of it, added the fabric (another one I use for backgrounds) and set fire to some paper to get the burnt element.
I am linking this page to Vicki’s Keeping it Light theme over on Art Journal Journey because of the feathers that are stamped all over the page and also the crow since he can fly and what can be lighter than flying!
#100dayproject
Here are four photos of the first four days of #the100dayproject. I am keeping it very small and simple which is not at all what I had intended to do but I can only do so much from the sofa. This year for my revised plan, I am making little charms using some of my favourite rubber stamp sets and shrink plastic. I had already stamped a few pages of them prior to my injury, and so now I can colour them all from the sofa and keep my leg elevated as much as possible. Eventually I will get around to making something out of them – definitely not 100 somethings as that would be way too many, but maybe 10 or so in total – think book dangles, journal dangles, maybe some jewellery.
Let me know what you think in the comments. As always, thanks for reading and happy journalling!

Yes, I like to choose my own fresh food! Miss Lily will have to be like you and learn to be patient- you will soon be back at your table, I love your SGC page! I like your idea of journal or bookmark dangles for your 100 Dau project too, Good idea to keep things small enough to work on your lap, Thank you for joining us at AJJ. Hugs, Chrisx
So sorry to hear you too are laid up with a knee injury. Both very different but injuries nonetheless. I can’t get out and about in a wheelchair because i daren’t bend my knee but I can walk using my rollator providing I can lie on the back seat with my leg stiff out in front of me, It’s a mini workout getting in and out of the car.
Love your challenge page which you met so well.
Sending gentle hugs
Neet xx
So love your bird and feathery background with him too! I absolutely love that quote and it’s something I try to live by! Love your layout with the colors and the added fabric piece! It adds some great texture and design! Thanks so much for sharing your inspiration for my theme at AJJ!
Hi Elle. That’s nice people were willing to help you out. I never, and never will use the self check out. It’s a personal thing. LOL Miss Lily looks so pretty and your art is brilliant. Have the best day.
These are both super pieces of art Elle. I can imagine it’s tough not being able to move about, never mind with daily life, but making art too. I always seem to be getting up and down to find something. And wow, your blackbirds are very different from what we have. Yours are actually cute. I like how you made it a crow. Crows are so universal, and I see to have a lot of them around my house. I hope things are moving in a positive direction with your leg, and thanks for joining Vicki’s challenge at AJJ. hugs-Erika
