Hi Friends!

Hope you are all doing well and still enjoying the summer in the Northern hemisphere.  I have not posted on my blog since my July calendar page, how shocking!  I’m not sure what is wrong with me, perhaps the weather is just too nice to be indoors, but I have not been creating much at all, so if there is no art, then there is nothing to post!  I have also been reconsidering why I make and share my art at all, as it seems like very little of it gets seen either on the blog or on social media these days.  Nothing to stop me making it and not sharing it of course, but sometimes all the effort of getting it made, photographed and posted, seems like a waste of my energy.  I don’t know, I think I need to make some changes, but not now while we still have lovely warm, sunny days to enjoy.  Oh yes and I am STILL on one crutch!

Today’s art . . .

This is of course intended for this month’s theme on Art Journal Journey which is Hot Summer (nights/days) as chosen by this month’s host Chris from PearShaped Crafting.  Am I the only one with Summer Nights stuck in their head?  Anyway, apart from making a Grease inspired page, the other thing that popped into my head was this month’s Summer Nights festival held at the Bandstand in Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow.  I was very inspired by the festival poster which you can see here.  It’s a great festival, and this is its 10th year, though probably this is the first time they’ve had great weather for it!  I wrote all the acts in the relevant dates.  Here’s a look at a bit of the festival – Billy Ocean from the 13th August.  He’s now 75!

Here’s a closer look, the Bandstand is at the top of the page, and the rest are Glasgow buildings and icons, including the Mitchell Library (largest public library in Europe), the Clyde Arc Bridge, the Finnieston Crane (no longer operational but left in place as a symbol of Glasgow’s engineering heritage) and of course I couldn’t leave out the Duke of Wellington’s statue. This statue of the Duke on horseback sits outside the Gallery of Modern Art. The most interesting thing about the statue (and the funniest) is that it is rarely without a parking cone on his head LOL.

Let me know what you think in the comments below.   As always, thanks for reading and Happy journalling!Ingredients

Great calendar Elle! It sounds like a great festival. I’ve seen Billy Ocean a few times at various locations, he’s amazing.
Like you I got disillusioned with blogging last year, and have only posted once this year. I occasionally miss it, but find only posting on Instagram much easier.
Sorry to hear that you’re still needing a crutch. My arm is much better, but still sore and I struggle to get it behind my back. I’m determined though, and doing my physio every day.
Enjoy the rest of the summer, while it lasts.

I’d miss you if you stopped blogging completely, but I know what you mean about making art and sharing it. I haven’t been the busiest tin the art department this summer either, but it’s summer, right? I do love your calendar. It’s a great background and I love all actual landmarks. I hope one day I get to visit Scotland as it looks so beautiful. The festival sounds fun too. It’s been a couple of years since I went to an outdoor concert, and they are lots of fun. The ones around us have gotten so expensive though, so unless you really love that articular musician, you have to kind of budget. 🙂 Anyhow, this is a super calendar and it’s perfect for Chris’ challenge. Thanks for joining in. hugs-Erika
