Sympathy cards are always hard, and I have not (luckily) had a lot of experience with having to make them or need them, but sadly I have needed a few. So what to do, cardmaking is enjoyable but making cards for sad occasions is not, or you don’t want it to be, or you feel guilty if it is? The best plan of course is to make plenty of this type of card in advance and keep them stashed so that they are there when you need them. Even if you make some and leave them sentiment-free so you can select something appropriate at the time. However, I didn’t have any and I needed to make one, and worse still, this one was going to be late due to flu knocked me flat. This one started off very differently and I got off track (photos to come) so I decided to start again, pull back a little, and make something more simple and clean. I pulled out one of my favourite sets from Concord and 9th called beautiful branches because I really like cherry blossom, and then decided to use their Barnwood background stamp first, and stamped it with Sandy Beach from Gina K The cherry blossom and branches and sentiment were stamped with Dusty Rose, Bubblegum Pink, and Chocolate Brown inks.
I used my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform which is one of the best things I have EVER bought and one of my top ten for 2017/2018 and got a bit carried away with the stamping and the size of the card so it ended up being about 5 and a half by 6 inches, which meant I had to make my own envelope for it – hah!
No worries, I used my WRMK Envelope Punch – such an awesome little tool – and some of that really great 12″ paper I got last year in a nice, almost matching, pink.
At the last minute I decided to add a little sparkle with Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen.
